Title: youth drilling
Post by: PUGIDOGS on February 23, 2007, 01:11:01 AM
I know this is kind of general but what kind of drilling do you tend to lean toward when it is for a youth.

The reason I am asking is my 10 year old is getting a new to him ball and the local drillers around here don't know squat.

He has been throwing a 10 lb plastic Zone,  Usually across 10 out to 5 and to the pocket at about 10/11 mph.  When the lanes start to dry this same shot goes brooklyn.

I am no expert but he looks to be a LITTLE rev dominate.

His new to him ball is a 10 lb erasure pbt,  2 1/2 pin.  This is his first reactive ball.

I hope he does not hook this thing off the lanes.  We will see.

I was thinking about a 4" to 5" pin to pap, under fingers for consistency but I am afraid it may just hook to much.

Any thoughts,  thanx,  Doug

At 10 lbs, the ball almost assuredly has a pancake core, so the layout won't make a lot of difference.  Put the cg near grip center and the pin away from all holes to avoid cracking.  The most important factor for a young bowler like this is to get a good fit.  --  JohnP
