COMMENTS
Tried the MM on 2 distinct house patterns. A high volume 40' THS with some play on it and a fresh 41' THS with a lighter volume and some of the strongest backends I've seen.
The MM performed admirably on both. On the heavier patters with some play, it cleared the heads fine, but really picked up in the mids and stared a long smooth arc through the pin deck. This heavier pattern was quite juicy and I was playing fairly close to the dry (fading 10 to 3-4), but it still picked up and continued through the pins with a great hit.
On the lighter pattern with the flying backends, the MM was strong enough to tone down the reaction in the dry, but still had more than enough pop to hit.
Overall, this is a great symmetrical benchmark. I could see a player carrying a couple of these with varying layouts/surfaces and have the tools for a large percentage of the conditions they see.
Sadly, it looks like this is on the chopping block, but if you can pick one up, I would highly recommend it.
