Here is the new mid performance ball for DV8, the Glam. This ball use a prover core, the Diva core. This is the same cover used in all the previous Diva. The cover is the same base as the Notorious but with some projection additive to offer more length.

The ball comes out of the box with a 500 1000 with a Factory compound. The new core / cover technologie and the surface allows the ball to clear the head and have a smooth transition in the backend.

Because I want those weakest balla to roll, I use a strong drilling with a 75 x 3 3/4 x 40. When I use weaker drilling, those balls tend to be over under.

On the lane, the ball delivers exactly what I expected. The ball clears the head pretty easily and offers a lot of control on the back end. Compared to the Warrant, I moved 3 boards right with my feet and two boards right with my eyes meanly because the ball is clean and smooth.

For people with higher ball speed, the surface can be adjusted and you'll be able to use that ball and get advantage of the midlane motion.

To conclude, if you want to have an easy controllable ball even on drier lanes, the Glam is for you.

The Diva Revamped...and Even Better!!!
by Bryan L. Williams, PBA Member and DV8 Pro Staff

“Introducing the newest releases from DV8. The third ball up is the DV8 Glam. The layout in this ball is a leverage drill to accommodate its symmetrical core to give this ball great shape and ball motion off the spot. This ball is perfect for medium lane conditions and also a great ball for those league bowlers looking for a great entry level ball at an incredible price point. DV8 is known for producing extremely strong rolling and hard hitting balls. With Dynamicore added to this ball, the Glam looks great and hits hard!!! Drilled my Glam 45x5x35 just like my favorite original Diva.
As expected with a shiny pearl symmetric with this type of layout, the Glam is fairly clean through the front part of the lane and fairly responsive at the break point.  I was able to use the Glam with moderate success by staying more parallel on fresh oil, but my best successes have been after 3-4 games of wear which allowed the midlane to break down a bit.

I punched up a JabSE and an Uppercut with similar layouts to my Glam and was curious to see how all 3 balls related to each other.  Compared to the JabSE and Uppercut, the Glam fits right in the middle.  The JabSE is the smoothest, most versatile and is the least bothered by oil, while the Uppercut is the most responsive to friction.

Compared to the other pearls in the Diva line, I found the Glam to be most like the XOXO.  The Glam is definitely stronger than the original Diva Pearl and is more responsive down the lane than the Style.  I recommend the Glam for bowlers of medium to softer speed looking for a versatile ball that will really help them towards the end of their league set.

We shot some video a month back featuring the Warrant, Glam and Uppercut on a fresh 40' pattern.  This pattern was too slick for the Glam, but you can see that it still mixed the pins really well and started up a bit sooner than the Uppercut!

DV8 Glam

Pin Length: 3 inch Pin

Ball Weight: 15lb

Layout:  5" x 30

BOWLER STYLE: Power Tweener

Rev Rate: 380-410

Ball Speed: 16-17mph

PAP/Track: 4">, 1" up

SURFACE PREP: OOB

Grit: N/A

Type: (Matte, Polish, Sanded): Shined

LANE CONDITION: THS

Length: 42ft

Volume:Medium, heavy

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

BALL REACTION : Scale of 1-10 ( 10 being the most )

Length: 8

Back End: 7.5

Total Hook: 8, on med to med light volumes

Breakpoint Shape: Length with backend

COMMENTS:

The DV8 Glam is a nod to the Diva line, with and updated cover to handle current oil conditions. The Glam is a great option for med to med light volumes, and higher friction surfaces. The Composite Fang pearl cover gives you great length with nice backend reaction on higher friction lanes.

I really like this ball, because most lighter volume balls use weaker cores and covers. The Glam uses a cleaner cover with a stronger core in this pricepoint. The .052 differential on this core means more overall hook than other balls in this pricepoint. I feel this is great for folks with lower rev rates and higher ball speeds, the Glam will be more useable for those types of bowlers than other lower end balls.

Overall, if your looking for a lower price point ball with more hook, the Glam is the ball for you!
