I am coming off of a 3 year layoff. I currently throw a track 400a in a 5 man league. I usually start off standing between 20 and 25 and throw it out between the 1 and 5 board. My line is usually screwed by the 2nd game. I am looking for a ball to go under my 400a. I want to play in the same area or maybe even play more up the boards. I was thinking a neon yellow misfit, orange/red misfit, or the black green outcast. What do you guys think?

I think all of those balls are going to be very close to your 400A.  Look into the new Deep Freeze coming out by Columbia in a few weeks.  Supposed to have a higher RG (help the ball go longer before it hooks) and a lower diff (which should help the ball be more controllable at the breakpoint.  Would be a step down from the 400 without going to a urethane ball.

Whle those balls are generally as strong (equal oil handlers) as the 400A, they are not as flippy (except maybe the yellow pearl).

However, I think what you need and how to play this situation depends on what you mean by "My line is usually screwed by the 2nd game". Are the heads too dry, is there carrydown? How is the ball reacting or not reacting?? What is it doing differently?
AND
how have you tried to adjust to what is happening?

These can be important to determine whether you need a weaker or a stronger ball and how to play the lanes.

AND, how is your 400A drilled?

Having not seen you bowl nor seen the transition that you face it is hard to give you a definite answer.  It would help to know how your white ball is drilled.  All of the 400A's that I have seen were very sharp off of the dry.

Here is my experience with the balls that you have named:
Yellow Misfit:  very long with lots of response to the dry boards.
Red Misfit:  More even and rolly than the Yellow, but can handle some oil and carrydown.
Outcast:  Flares a little less than the Misfits, better for squaring up than the Misfits and slightly less overall hook.

I would also tell you to consider the Hooligan.  My Hooligan is surprisingly long and similar in overall hook to my Outcast.  The Hooligan takes better to surface adjustments, is more responsive to speed/release adjustments and to me is just an overall more versatile ball.

My experience with the Hooligan and Outcast are right there with BRs post.

More info on the lane problems your having would be helpful because if you aren't standing further right to begin with likely a little weaker ball isn't going to make that possible.

I have this problem if I am playing in the middle or a little right on my mens league when the oil pushes around and the over/under is hell. I can get something far more aggressive and move much further left usually 10 or 15 boards of the center dot and play  25 or 30 out to 10 and avoid most of the weirdness that occurs upfront by the other bowers.

My 400a is drilled pin up. The lanes start hooking and I am forced to either speed up or move deep. The problem is that when I speed up, my swing isn't consistent. When I move deep, I lose carry. I dug deep into my closet and found my old slingshot that is drilled with the pin 2 inches from my pap. I tried it out this past weekend on drier lanes and it was money. I forgot what it felt like to throw so many strikes on dry lanes with little effort. I thought I was Norm Duke for a moment. Now I am thinking maybe a red/orange misfit and drilling it the same way.

I went with the black/green outcast and drilled it with the pin 2 inches from my pap. I love this ball. It actually hooks quite a bit on drier lanes but the motion is so predictable and the carry I get is excellent.
