Brutal nightmare drilling
« on: April 30, 2013, 07:06:46 AM »
I just bought the dv8 brutal nightmare. We're going to get it drilled tomorrow. I want it to do as the description says. Rolls easy through the front and mid lane and then realllly hooks at the backend where there's friction. I want a extreme hook from this ball. What should I tell the pro shop guy when he asks how I want it drilled?!?

I would explain to the Pro Shop operator exactly what you said here.

Without knowing your speed, rev rate, and area of the lane you usually play, its hard to suggest a drilling. But, I would suggest a pin above ring finger drilling to give it length, and the Mass Bias to the right of the thumb if you are right handed to give it the backend reaction.

Okay, I play around 3rd arrow, throw about 15 mph so I think that gives me a rev rate of about 250? Any more suggestions?

Just tell him long and strong or max it. I don't have a Brutal yet, but I will in August. I've seen it in action with a couple guys with different styles and all of them were hooking it even the stroker was moving way left.

Tell your pro shop guy what you are exactly looking for in terms of reaction.  If he isn't in the house you bowl in, don't forget to tell him/her the condition you bowl on.  A 55 X 3 3/4 X 25 sounds  good for what you want.

I have to say, be careful of how you drill this ball. If you are heavy handed and you don't have a lot of oil, this ball will not hook. I drilled mine pin under and strong, because I want it for sport shots, and it works GREAT! I attempted to throw it on our normal house shot and the guys we were bowling were all laughing because the ball never moved off its spot.

Great piece, just make sure you drill it for what you intend to use it for and stick to that!
