Could Rude Dude be set up to give an angular finish?

Everything I see on the Rude Dude so far has it strong, but more arcing.  If I use the DV8 "Big Flip" symmetrical layout, and smoother surface, could I get it to be controlled but more finish at the back end?

Surface change will be a big factor followed by how you throw the ball and lane condition. The reaction you are describing sounds a lot like the original Dude.

The "Big Flip" layout may not be big flip for you depending on where your PAP is at, it may be the big roll or the big puke . . and I suppose I don't get why anyone would get a ball that doesn't fit what they want reaction-wise and then try to force it to work . .

Too many times, bowlers try and fit equipment to a reaction they want instead of what the ball is designed for, thus creating bad ball reaction

Well, the proshop is telling me that the Rude Dude can be more angular, but I wasn't sure. 

The original Dude is too weak for what I need.  I may consider a Schizo...I don't want skid/flip so much, rather a clean front and strong controlled backend.  My other symmetrical is VERY controlled (pin under ring) -great when backends are jumping, but finishes a little weak when the backends are not jumping.

Matched speed and revs, medium tilt, medium high rotation, so the DV8 "Big Flip" layout looks about right for me (Lower VAL angle)  to get a stronger response at the backend - from what I have been studying anyway....OR, is a solid symmetrical going to be mild and arcing no matter what layout and surface you put on it?

The Rude Dude that I drilled is a strong back-end finish, but it's not as angular as others in their lineup (My Schizo is more angular).  Is it a "hockey stick" reaction?  Not mine.  Is it strong?  Yes.

sounds like the rude dude is exactly what youre looking for. on a side note, if you use the dual angle layout system why do you even look at the drill sheet that comes with the ball. im not trying to sound insulting but drill sheets that come with bowling balls are in no way shape or form specific enough to trust to recommend a proper layout for bowlers. i would have a trusted proshop operator that knows your game and the conditions you bowl on to recommend a layout.

The Rude Dude is a great ball . . . The cover is strong and you can get some angle from the ball. If you're looking for length and more backend, why not look to the Thug. Sounds like that's a ball for you. The Schizo is another solid option, it's not skid/snap, it blends the reaction and is more of a strong arc motion.

Thanks all.  Its hard to really know what you,re getting or who to trust with all of the different opinions...proshop vs internet vs manufacturer....why would the manufacturer put out drill sheets with a description of ball reaction for that layout, if they don,t work for the average bowler? 

I wish I had a bunch of money and could buy multiple balls .... 1 guess per year isnt cutting it.

First of all, cover and surface prep constitutes 70-75% of the reaction...layout is 15-20% and weight hole also has effect but surface dictates length, bowler creates overall reaction...bowling balls are tools to compliment the bowlers attributes-they do nothing on there own
