Cracking Nightmare and Misfit Pearl
« on: October 02, 2013, 01:05:52 PM »
My two least used balls are both cracking AROUND the fingers. They are not cracking between. The cracks start about 1/4 of an inch from the fingers, and circle around them approximately that distance away. Do these two balls have a problem with cracking like this? The Nightmare has MAYBE 30 games on it, and the Misfit way less than that

This is called spider cracking, and is something you will see in all balls across all brands.  It is most commonly seen around fingers with insufficient bevel.  Manufacturers normally will not warranty a ball with spider cracking at a beginning stage, but over time it will eventually get larger and chunk out.  You may be able to take it to your local pro shop and have them drill out / plug the area, or continue to use the equipment until the cracks become much larger (it won't affect ball performance).

I have this issue with my Diva, it started about a month after I got it, and it hasn't grown or done anything since then...been about 3 months now. It happens to all ball companies and can become an issue, luckily with DV8 they have a 2 year warranty and have been amazing with replacements!

I finally got a reply back from DV8. They said that it is a common issue with balls with finger grips and balls drilled within 1" of the pin. I can take it to my pro shop to continue with a claim. The only pro shop that can drill a ball worth a darn is an hour and a half away. I will just buy a new ball when I get a chance lol
