Dude drill
« on: July 07, 2014, 08:20:54 AM »
I am a lower rev more speed dominant bowler. I don's know exact specs on revs or pap. I just got my first symmetrical DV8, being the Dude. I am currently using a melee with OOB surface as my benchmark ball. Is there any drilling suggestions for the Dude that will place it above my melee? I can play with cover, but drilling is the first step in the process.

Cover and prep dictate 70-75% of reaction...layout is only abt 20%...key in on surface more so than a magic layout

The Melee and the Dude have similar reactions. I would go with a similar drilling if you like to reaction of the Melee. Like Rick said, you can adjust the surface by taking it to 1000 or 2000 to give you a stronger overall motion compared to the Melee.

Thanks for the advice. Melee is the best ball I have had in years. Hearing these have similiar reactions is great. I will have the dude drilled the same and tweak the cover to fit accordingly.

I frilled mines yesterday with the motion hole layout with pin beside ring finger. This ball rolls like a dream. A nice shape and reaction I wanted to add to my bag. I was amazed at the carry and how well it rolled. It wasn't jumpy off the spot. This is my 3rd hybrid and 1st DV8 I have drilled since being on staff. It's safe to say I will be back for sure. Great investment.

I left the decision to the pro shop operator. When I picked it up, it has pin over the middle finger. Don't know the angles. But I don't think I have this set up on anything else.

There is overlap with the melee, but that is ok. I.expected it. Shot 277 second game thrown with it. Nothing fancy, simply good pin carry and predictable reaction. I don't need three WOW factor, just the results.

Still to new for me to give too much honest feedback, but first time out was promising.
