Keep in mind the Grudge has a very aggressive coverstock. It might not be going too long, just burning up too early and leaving nothing for it's move to the pocket. You may want to have the Grudge polished first and then see what kind of reaction it gets. Then if it's not something you like experiment from there with 4000, 3000, and 2000. 1000 is already one of the lowest grits a lot of people use so there isn't much room to go down from.

If the ball has a good amount of games on it you should consider getting the oil taken out of it as well before the surface adjustments.

I also often struggle with the burning up thing with the Scandal and Swerve. It looks like I'm hitting the pocket perfectly, but the 10 is still there.
Maybe I'll buy a lower performance lvl ball for the new season instead of the Grudge Hybrid.
We bowl on patterns around 39 feet to 41 feet. Volume; Medium.

I practice yesterday and better reaction. I moved a little deeper and stayed in the oil. Didn't swing the ball out too far.

It is the biggest hooking ball i have seen in some time. Drilled one for a teammate who is high rev and high speed player and always buys the biggest hooking ball on the market. No such thing as too much hook for him.....till this ball. First ball he has asked me to tame down the reaction on because it hooked too much.

He isn't a brand specific bowler. His previous favorite was the RG Sinister. Y

ou will certainly want plenty of oil for this ball or adjust the surface as mentioned to handle less oil a little better.
