DV8 Poison Pearl reaction video 12 frames
« on: September 09, 2019, 09:38:57 PM »
Decided to go practice yesterday and shoot a short video with my new DV8 Poison Pearl. Used my cell phone so sorry for the quality. This is a game, 12 consecutive shots, of me getting warmed up.

For me the Squatch the the Poison Pearl are pretty close in reaction. Not just from this video, but from my use in practice and leagues so far with the two. If you are debating between the two I say pick your favorite color and enjoy. You wont be disappointed in either.

Both are as advertise. Clean skid snap kind of reaction. Great for most conditions. I've got a lot of use with the Squatch and love it with fresh 2000 especially on non house conditions. For league this was too much surface. I have the Poison Pearl at 4000 and the Squatch is at 2000 with a few games on it/light lane shine in this video.

The ball is drilled with a 4.75" pin to pap.
Bowler stats:
Rev rate 400
Axis tilt 13
Axis rotation 60
Ball speed 16.5

Awesome video.  Real world bowling, what a concept.  Worth more than 10 of the flashy near useless staffer videos.

Thank you.  Ive done either or style video before.

Noticed there wasn't a lot out there for this ball and thought id do one.  In person it really reminds me of the Storm Bolt from years ago. Very good looking ball.

Did you like the Poison Pearl as time went on over the season? With all the time on my hands now I'm looking into a bunch of stuff and this one is obviously an eye-catcher. Just wondering how it held up after getting some games on it.

I just started back throwing Brunswick at the time of this video from EBI. After seeing the Poison Pearl in the proshop and it reminding me of the Storm Bolt I had to try it.

I actually liked the ball a lot but wasn't enjoying some of the other Brunswick stuff as much as my EBI and sold off all of it. After Brunswick buying EBI I started back buying some of the Brunswick stuff I loved so much initially. Kingpin Rule x2, Posion Pearl x2, Vapor Zone pearl x2.

The second Poison Pearl I drilled up was even better. At the time of this video I had opened up the ring finger in all of my equipment which felt great on the sides of my finger but was actually too big for the front and back. This caused me to start squeezing the ball and killed my ball reaction. Which may have been an issue in me not liking some of the Brunswick stuff I tried at the time. Even some of my favorite EBI stuff was rolling pretty bad for me till I fixed my finger issues with some tape.

Since then the Poison Pearl is a staple in my 6 ball line up for tournaments. Especially on different sport conditions. I've won money because of this ball and definitely enjoy having a few more on standby.

Im picking up one more because Buddies or bowlers mart has them on sale for $79 and you can use a $5 off coupon to get the ball well below proshop cost. I love the looks of it which I can't say on most of the DV8 stuff, and I love the reaction. I typically keep mine with a little surface of either 2000 or 4000 depending on the conditions I might see.

Hope that helps

Yes it does, thank you. I have a Honey Badger that I also keep a little bit of surface on. The two balls look like they would be fairly similar, but a different drilling would go on the Poison Pearl and probably a bit more surface. From the videos I've watched it looks like the DV8 picks up a bit sooner and I'd capitalize on that difference.

I liked that the Poison because it seemed to setup a little sooner.  Got an orange Vibe and it's even sooner/more pronounced and makes a great step down when the Poison is too much and not finishing. I typically didn’t like that reaction but the orange Vibe changed that for me.  The orange Vibe was the next ball I stocked up on a few of.

A teammate of mine bought the Orange Vibe earlier in the year, he had the Cherry and the Onix so this was next. It's been the best reaction he's had in years and he's a pretty decent bowler. That's a great ball.

I believe it.

Just bought an Onyx Vibe a few weeks ago.  Would like a Cherry vibe next.  The orange Vibe has been one of the best bang for your buck balls ive thrown in a while. Wasn't crazy about the color but so glad I tried one.  Been picking up a lot of old stock ebi stuff to set back for a rainy day.
