Schizo & Rude Dude
« on: June 28, 2014, 01:02:54 PM »
I had a chance to throw a few games with the new releases last night. I threw the on a fresh 43ft 24mL house shot. I drilled the Schizo 60x4-5/8x35 with a P2 hole to get it legal. I started with the Schizo playing 15-5 and rolling it with a more end over end release to see how it looked when it picked up the lane. With the fresh oil, I knew it would get down lane with ease, I was worried it would push past the break point with the OOB finish. Boy was I wrong! The new Class 12F cover stock is very responsive to friction. I was able to play many angles on the house shot and saw great length, a strong motion down lane and great continuation. I bowled only 4 games with it, but it never seemed to labor as the night went on. I was very pleased to actually be able to use such a strong ball for 4 games.

I also tried the Rude Dude on our fresh THS. I drilled the RD 50/5/25 to compliment my original Dude 40/3.25/45, this is also one of my favorite drillings on symmetrical balls. I compared the two Dudes and immediately noticed how much stronger the Rude Dude is. Both of these balls are 500/Royal Compound. But the RD, even with the longer pin to pap, dug in and made a stronger move at the break point. I had to move 6 boards deeper with the RD to start. I ended up moving another 2 before I was done with game 1. If you liked the Dude, but wanted a little more in the mids or worried about it pushing past the break point, the new Rude Dude's Class 7G Reactive is the answer. On heavier patterns, when you need the ball to pick up the mids faster, this ball would be my Choice when the Ruckus Feud gets to be too much, but the lane condition isn't allowing you to really open it up w/ a Schizo. I can't wait to get more games on them and really put them through more tests.

Class 7 was on Hellraiser Revenge. That's a beast of a cover at the mid price point

It is definitely a lot of ball for the price.

I'm wondering where the rude dude sits among other recent mid priced symetric solids like the Hyroad Solid or Yeti Unleashed.  My son is getting a rude dude as part of his entry in a tournament next month; the weight will be for future use.  As we build his future tournament arsenal I'm just tring to tick off boxes.

So far he will have a ruckus feud (no confusion on where that sits), Rude Dude, Tribal. He will likely also add an original Hy road since it works for him so well at his current weight. Sorry if this is a quasi hijack, but I'm really I just interested in where the rude dude sits in an arsenal.

It's hard for me to say for sure, I haven't knocked the OOB finish off of the Rude Dude yet. I can say that with the 500 Siaair/Royal compound finish, the ball is still plenty strong. The Class 7G cover is pretty stout, I would have to believe it would read the lane similar to the balls you mentioned.

I've taken the polish off of the Rude Dude and compared it to my original Diva.
The Rude Dude is very close and if anything about a board less hook than the Diva with the noticeable difference being a little less flare.  For me it rolls and carries best when I am looking for control and want to play more parallel angles while my higher flaring balls (schizo, divas) are more effective playing more sideways through the front part of the lane.
The Rude Dude should make a nice first ball out of the bag

Thanks for the comparison Brandon. I was contemplating getting another Rude Dude and keeping it sanded for fresh medium/long sport patterns. I think it'll be a great ball for this.

Valenta was throwing it at Nationals.  It looks exactly like the old Brunswick Intense Inferno

How close are the Rude Dude and the Diva?  Is the difference more shape than total hook?
Where are all my 2001-2006 posts?

Shape is the biggest difference.  The separation in total hook is only 3-4 boards IMO.

Snakster - if your son is getting the rude dude as entry to tourney, you really should not worry about the hy-road solid or yeti unleashed IMO. There will be too much overlap more than likely.
He should really enjoy the rude dude, and the younger bowlers generally like the vibrant colors as well. The Rude Dude looks and preforms well from my observations. It is one on my wish list.

Thanks, that's what I suspected. Now if I can get him on the elliptical and start doing some push-ups, he might get to use it sooner or later. :-)

Would it be a good idea to have both of these in your bag? I currently have a Endless, Diva Pearl and a Dude. Would I have to much overlap?

So your arsenal could look like this: Endless, Schizo, Rude Dude, Diva Pearl and Dude. The only thing you may be missing is a ball for drier lanes. The Schizo will compliment the Endless really well giving you a great look as the endless starts to read too early. It'll offer a little more length and a stronger move as they start to open up. Depending on how your Dude is drilled and what surface you like it at, will determine how you drill the Rude Dude. My Dude is a benchmark reaction for me. It's my go to ball for fresh sport conditions or when I need to get out of trouble. Mine was drilled 40x3.25x45 with a hole down on the VAL sanded 500/2000. So my Rude Dude was drilled 55x5x25 500/Royal Compound. For me, the difference is the Rude Dude gets a little cleaner through the heads and digs the mids with a stronger backend reaction.  My Diva Pearl fits under my Dude because of the layout and surface I have it at. I think you could justify adding both to your bag, but if you were only going to add one right now . . . I'd suggest the Schizo to bridge the gap from endless to your other stuff.
