As stated above, don't be afraid to change the surface on any DV8 ball. They all respond to surface changes very well. I don't know if I have a single ball at the OOB surface. Shiny balls have better shelf appeal so companies tend to make the ball have more shine than maybe the ball needs, just so they shimmer on the shelf.
I have had luck with the Marauder at the surface that TWOHAND834 recommended. Rough Buff is a great surface to give you some push, but still pick up a roll, when High Gloss Polish is not working. I also had luck changing the surface to 500/4000/Rough Buff/Factory High Gloss. Essentially giving it more shine, by doing this the ball pushed more, but retained more energy and made a much stronger move when it read friction. My suspicion as to why this worked, is because the hybrid coverstock bled energy earlier than a pearl would at OOB, thus reducing strength at the break point. Might be an option if taking the surface down doesn't work.
