Title: Marauder Madness Drilling ...
Post by: MidwestMissile on April 05, 2013, 11:53:41 AM

Just ordered a Marauder Madness , but not entirely sure on how to drill it , so it is a proper fit in my arsenal . Currently I have Brutal Nightmare pin under ring , cg out, mass right of thumb with a low hole  . Diva pin next to ring , cg swung in a tad towards the palm with a semi low hole . Misfit pearl pin over ring , cg swung slightly small hole close to pap .

I guess my question is , would it be better to drill it aggressively pin up for a stronger reaction , or do another pin down drilling ? I really do not have a stronger drilled pin up rock at the moment

I am not a driling adviser, but the people that will answer your question are going to want more information such as ball speed, revs, lane conditions you will use it on, and some may also want your tilt and axis rotation. However, to me (can't speak for others) the speed, revs and lane conditions you will use it on are the most important.

I'm not entirely sure on axis rotation and tilt , but ball speed is generally right at 16 mph at the pin deck , medium rev rate if i had to guess by watching others 320 - 350 .  Lane conditions vary , but it would be a mix of house shots on pro anvilanes , and sport shot patterns on various wood surfaces .

I'm trying to migrate away from getting really deep and wheeling the lane , and becoming more so of a tweener or power stroker if you will . So looking for a layout that I can get down the lane and let it unleash on the backend

I would suggest a pin up drilling with the cg swing to the right a little (see below). It would be good to leave enough weight so that you can put a hole in if you need a stronger reaction. Also, I would leave the box finish (4000) for the first few games, but the Marauder Madness takes well to surface changes.  So, you can add polish or take it to 2000 if you need a stronger reaction. The Marauder Madness should fit below your Diva and above your Misfit Pearl.

My chemo should be over in about 5 weeks and I will be getting a Madness then. That drilling has to be a good drilling as it is very close to what Brunsnick has suggested for me when I get my ball, and he has never been wrong with past suggestions for me.

+1 on what Brandon said.
