New DV8 Balls
« on: January 15, 2013, 06:42:46 PM »
Hey all, I have had the chance now to throw the new DV8 balls some and all I can say is wow. Definitely filled some needs and completed the product line. Below is what I am seeing from them.

Misfit Pearl. I have been looking for more length and was excited to see this one. I have two solid misfits, one pin up and one pin down. I drilled this the same as my pin up, pin is five from PAP which puts it above the bridge. I didn't nees an extra hole and used at factory finish. Both solid and pearl clear the fronts effortlessly. The midlane and backend is where I see the difference. This ball pushes an extra three to four feet and is much more responsive to the friction than my solid. I can see this being good on total burn when I need to use deep angles which is what I was hoping for. What surprised me was how usable it is on my houseshot. It is second shift, not much backend, heads hook. I can play straighter and get it to push through the front and not get too deep.

Diva. This ball is special. Right in the middle of the line in terms of hook, backend motion, etc. This is my benchmark. I will drill a second for sure. This ball is real clean up front, reads the mids, and is o continuous all the way through the pins. First nine shots out of the box were strikes in league. Then I stepped on myself. Very excited about this ball. I have played deep inside and outside anglea and have no issues creating the shape I need to strike.

Brutal Nightmare. I was excited for this. I love the way nightmare rolled but we rarely see enough oil to use it much. This ball gives me a good two feet more length and is much sharper at the breakpoint. It is the most angular of all the DV8 balls I have used. If you have a nightmare, this is a great compliment to it. When my nightmare starts to bleed off energy too early, I switch to this, make a little move left, and open them up!

If anyone has any questions, let me know!

If you have thrown the green misfit how does the pearl compare

I have a pin down green misfit and a pin up blue Orange. The pearl is much cleaner through the front and a little more angular. They are different enough to justify having both. This is the low volume drier lanes ball that deviants have been waiting for.

The Pearl is very long and ridiculously angular.  For lower rev rates it will be give you the length to stay right with enough backend to not worry about hitting flat, but for higher rev rates it is simply sideways

I am just getting more in tune with the newer equipment.  I was a die hard big b fan.  I still throw my teal rhino consistently.
If i could pick your brain, i need something to replace it that is a little stronger.  from what i have read, would you say the misfit or the pearl.  I am a low rev, about 12 mph left handed bowler.
Just looking for an idea of something to get.  And from what i have read, the DV8 brand fits me game, which is skid/snap.
