You guys may not know this, but I have absolutely no problem stating my mind when I feel strongly about something... No, really...
I hated DV8. I don't like their silly slogans, I don't like their focus on kids who have no respect for bowling. I don't like that they are Brunswick, whom I feel let us down as bowlers big time. I don't like their marketing stance, and I bet I would even hate the food in their vending machines.
When my brother, who is admittedly much better than I, needed a new ball I did everything to make sure he stayed away from DV8. However, his PSO convinced him to buy a Grudge and he promptly shot 300 two weeks later. He's got 14-15 to my 7... Big deal. That was an accident, obviously, but it does prove that my brother's good if he can get a 300 even when throwing a DV8.
Now, when my 210 avg is down to 201, then drops to 198 in 2 weeks (ouch), and I can't break 170 with anything in this league, I desperately need a clean, flippy reaction that's missing in my bag.. Now MY PSO says try a DV8 Vandal, you cheap clearance priced old man.
What's with this rash of DV8? And an asym? The only thing I hate more than DV8's marketing stance is an asymmetric bowling ball. THEY NEVER WORK FOR ME.
It appears I may have been slightly in error.
I like this ball. This is a nice ball. This is a pretty ball, with no fragrance other than lane oil. It rolls clean, it breaks sharply (even with my low revs), and it hits hard. I actually was practicing with it and the person on the lane next to me thought I knew what I was doing (little did they know). I really have to work hard to miss the pocket, and 230 is the lowest game I've shot with it (but I've been too stubborn to use it to it's full potential... Hey, it's only been 2 weeks, give me time). Last week, 145, 170 (it gets boring week after week) then teammates said "pull out that blue ball you threw in practice...". 245, thank you.
I will have one in my bag forever, period. The only thing I haven't tried is to change the surface. If you know me, you know that I am death to any ball once it is on a spinner. That worries me a lot, so I'm currently working on ways to buy the rest of the manufacturing run before they're all gone.
Wish me luck. And oh yeah... I'm sorry DV8....
