Need to replace my Radical Inferno with a DV8.
« on: August 24, 2012, 08:30:19 AM »
I have had great success with my Radical Inferno from the Inferno line BUT it has a pretty bad crack in it now and will need to be replaced. My rotation as of now is The Hellraiser Terror -> Victory Road -> Radical Inferno.

My question is there a ball that Dv8 makes that I can put in place of this ball? I use the RI for when the lanes are on the dry side and/or to pick up all of my spares except the 10 pin.

I throw at 18-19 mph with about 375-400 rpms.

Need something that can go very long with some nice movement on the backend.... Maybe a Misfit?

a misfit maybe more skid than you are looking for given the cover/ core differences.
i'd consider the too reckless if you prefer it be a dv8 ball. the r.i. spin's quick because of the low rg core, where the dv8's push & flip harder than the r.i. i think the too reckless would be the better matchup you are looking for.

I agree that the misfit might have too much of a backend reaction on dry lanes. The Too Reckless would be a good option but I would suggest taking the surface to 4000 to help smooth out the reaction if it goes too sideways when reaching the friction. Another good Brunswick ball would be a C*(System) versa-max. The versa-max will get down the lane like the too reckless, but have a smoother reaction on the friction.

I guess I'm the only one here amazed you had success with the Radical Inferno. I loved the way it reved up early but was the most over under ball I've ever thrown in my life. Couldn't sell it for 40 bucks so was more worth my time giving it to Goodwill.

never thought to just take the polish off it with 4000 grit pad?

Ya tried it with 2000 abarlon, didn't like the reaction but was better. Tried cleaning it and hand polished it and didn't like it either and tried a wet green scotch brite pad and was better. But was still a lousy ball nevertheless and most on this board agreed.
I found it useful for playing outside on short patterns if permitted.
