New Comparison Vids! Brawler/Diva and Ringer/Misfit Pearl
« on: April 10, 2013, 10:40:46 AM »
Here at Ball Reviews Canada we strive to bring you the best bowling ball reaction videos on the market. While its easiest to show the strengths and differences between balls on a fresh house shot, this kind of reaction is only a reality for most league players for maybe one game. While all of our main ball reviews are done on a fresh house shot, we will be bringing you head to head ball reaction comparison videos on a shot type that the balls are designed for.  How do the balls roll when the heads go?  How well do they cut through carrydown?  And what balls roll the best on the "9pm second shift leftover" shot?  Heres the answer to those questions with our new videos for the week.

Great video Jason.

Tell me about your PAP on the Diva Vs Brawler vid.  On the Diva your PAP is 5 1/8 over.  On the Brawler it is 4 3/4 over.  That is not a misprint is it?  If not, I was not aware that a PAP could be that much different.  Especially considering that these are both very similar symmetric balls.

Thanks for posting the vids.  I love it that you did these on burned up conditions.  The Ringer looks like a killer on this shot.

Thanks for the comments guys.

@davidinil.  The Diva had been drilled about a month earlier than the Brawler.  During that time I made a few grip changes which changed my PAP a bit.  Both balls are the correct PAP at the time of shooting the videos.  Hope this helps.

You are clearly a talented player and I always try to learn from those people.  Can you tell me a little more what you changed, why, and the result?  I watch you throw and find it hard to imagine that you'd need to fix anything.   But good players are always trying to get better  :D

Thanks for the compliment.  And you are correct.  Always trying to get better.  As for the change I went a bit more forward in my thumb and made some lateral changes on my finger due to a constant spot that always tears.  My span is very relaxed at 4 1/4 total span.  Thumb is 1/4 forward and fingers are 1/4 reverse in both and 1/2 left for middle finger and 1/4 right for ring finger.  I also use a very sharp thumb on my switch grip.  Right out of the press and quickly buzzed with the sander.  No bevel.  I've tried everything to stop from grabbing the ball and the bottom of the swing and pain is the only thing that works to stop it lol.

Interesting.  I've gone shorter in my span now too.

I hear you on the grab thing.  One day I'm so easy on the ball, my hand is barely making contact with the holes.  The next day I've got a death claw grip on it.

You only show one shot with each ball and then replay the same shot, I would rather see more shots with the same ball to see how it performs when you're not hitting your target 100%.

Hey Meatballl, that is correct. For the ball-to-ball comparisons, we use one ideal shot from each ball from multiple angles.

If you check the main reaction video for each ball (not the ball-to-ball comparison), we try to use 4 different shots to get a little variation.
