Recommend a replacement for my HellRaiser Revenge
« on: October 06, 2013, 02:50:40 PM »
I need ball recommendations.  My HRR was severely damaged last night after getting stuck in the ball return.  Long story short, they are going to replace it with a new ball of my choice since the HRR is discontinued.  Which of the DV8 balls would give me the same kind of great performance as the HRR and be a good replacement?  I use 15# balls, speed about 14mph at the pins, and my A game is straight up the boards between 5 & 10, but I'll do a small swing shot if needed.  Higher track, lower tilt, and good rotation, but I'm working on increasing my tilt to give me better shot options

It's a shame they discontinued the whole Hell Raiser line, since there seems not to be a equal substitute. My guess would be Nightmare with a less agressive layout or maybe Diva, slightly sanded down.

Forget the Diva... too weak of a cover and the symmetric core is not going to roll as early as you can get a strong asymmetric to do...  Surface can't do it all.

+1. If you wanted to stick with DV8 go with the Endless Nightmare, it's slightly close. Brunswick has the Aura Paranormal with has the same type of motion and Radical has the Reax with a smoother rolling layout could be close. Just depends on your stats.

I'd say the original Nightmare if you want about the same amount of overall hook. If you want more ball than what the HRR was then go with the Endless Nightmare. Both will give similar looks off the frictions and will bounce left a bit harder off the friction.

I would get another ball that you are interested in, DV8 or other and then go on e-bay and buy a NIB Hell Raiser Revenge.  They still can be found.  I have 2 friends drill them in the last month.

Paranormal is the closest, but the Endless will be similar but has a little more backend.  I find the original Nightmare to be weaker and flatter than the HRR.
