Ruckus or Mastermind Genius and arsenal help
« on: June 05, 2014, 11:48:11 PM »
Considering getting a Ruckus or Mastermind Genius.  Have not tried big b in a while and never tried DV8.  What would you suggest more?  Mainly medium to medium house shot, 400 revs about 17 mph....

Also, what 1-2 other dv8 balls would you suggest most?  Considering dude and diva?  Thoughts on both?

IMO the Genius picks up the mid-lane about considerably sooner than the Ruckus. The Ruckus is a little cleaner and offers more angle off the dry. On a THS, with just the release info you posted, I feel the Ruckus would be a better fit. The Genius would be good if you were a little more speed dominant and needed help getting the ball to read the lane soon enough so it didn't flag the head pin. Also, you would be able to keep the Ruckus in your hands longer and not have to ball down as fast as the lanes open up.

You can't go wrong with either ball on a THS. I agree with tommymo in that the Genius will read the midlane a little sooner, and both have a strong backend reaction. I have used both balls that were drilled similarly, and I have had greater success on a THS with the Mastermind Genius in my area.

If you go with the DV8 line, a good lineup would be a Ruckus with 2000 surface or polish, Diva with 2000 surface or polish, Diva Pearl. The Dude would be a little smoother overall than the Diva.

If you go with the Brunswick line, a good lineup would be a Mastermind Genius, Melee Cross with 2000 surface, and Melee with polish. The lt-48 would be a little weaker than the Melee.

Honestly didn't like either.

Food for thought if considering the same lines the Schizo and the Intellect are amazing. Can't bowl enough with my Schizo right now.

I have to agree that the Schizo is an awesome ball! A heck if a lot stronger than the original Ruckus. But my original Ruckus is drilled pretty weak anyways 80/2.5/45. I sanded it 360/1000 and use it on the fresh and play more parallel lines. I haven't drilled my Intellect yet, but if it's what they say it is . . . It's going to be a winner. Right now the Schizo and Rude Dude see the most time on the lanes.
