For the DV8nts! I don't know the lineup well enough
« on: March 05, 2019, 11:46:37 AM »
Well, I just don't know their new stuff well enough.

But in general I have determined that most DV8 stuff is lefty ready!  Meaning a smooth early read and a gradual smooth read off the friction and good curl to the hole.

Two I already love are my DV8 Misfit solid and my Pitbull!

I picked up a DV8 Ruckus Green(they say Hybrid Class 8F).  It acts like a real good smooth solid with easy push down the lane.  Unfortunately this is a conversion of an Assym from right to left and often these seem to lack a little horsepower down lane for me.  That is the case here also!

Any one have one drilled lefty to sell?  OR anyone know of what is real similar in today's arsenal?

Thanks DV8ers!

Regards,

Luckylefty

DV8 and the Brunswick brands in general have gone to more motion overall in most of the recent releases.

If you want something comparable to the Ruckus, I think the Turmoil Solid or Turmoil Hybrid would be the best options. The core shape is actually very similar with some small tweaks and I think the covers line up closest possibly even sharing similar base to balls of a couple years ago.

If you go that route, I would probably keep the pin-pap on the shorter side

The Brunswick Method could fit the bill as well as the Cutting Edge Hybrid

Well, I noticed the Turmoils all looked like they had the Danger Zone Ice cream cone core!  As did the Ruckus, but of course they said it was Assymetric which I think was a slight offset of the ice cream on the cone!

At least that is what I remembered from the Classic Zone and the Red Zone back when they created the assymetric versions of the Danger Zone!

Hey,,,wait a second!  I have a Red Zone laying around!  I'll check in the bin!

Thanks, SV!

Anyone seen a friend not using there old Ruckus?

Sv makes a great point with shorter pin to pap distances, especially on asymmetricals. Mo says pins 2 3/4-4 1/2 retain tilt and give the most motion, and backend. As you get closer to 6 inch weak pins it will lose tilt and burn up more. I just drilled a radical conspiracy with a 4 1/2 inch pin stacked, and the ball is amazing. Never had a ball give me that much motion, and store energy through the pins like that before in my life. And I’m a big storm, rg guy, had all the big skid flip hook balls from them. A lefty in my area crushes them with a Brunswick vapor zone. Big backend motion for him.

That's true but my reasoning for saying that was LuckyLefty saying he likes the smoother motion

Oh, gotcha. My dv8 rebellion is super smooth. Got a six inch pin in it with a big kick with mb on Val. Great piece for over under, wet dry. With a six inch pin it still has plenty of flare. Pretty amazing. Asymmetricals can be real tricky.

If your interested I have a NIB 15 lb. Thug Unruly I might be talked out of. LMK! Be warned-The Unruly is a solid, and quite a bit stronger than the Ruckus. I had both.

Coyote,

I remember that Thug Unruly.  That thing was Brutal I think even stronger than the Pitbull which I have and think is a beast.  I actually believe the Thug ?(green pearl) and Thug Unruly solid are actually two of the strongest balls in their class I have ever seen!

I don't have much trouble handling au jus with my rev dominant delivery but I like clean in the front with powerful smooth Backend in the back.  I just think my Ruckus has everthing except I drilled out some of the backend of my Ruckus in the conversion from right handed to left handed assymetric.  Something that I do seldom of as most seem to be mediocre conversions!  Not so much if the mass bias for the righty was originially drilled negative (in the track)for the righty, or under the thumb.

Sincerely,

Luckylefty

I had a similar question for the DV8 folks. How much difference is there between all the Pitbulls? They all share the same core and all appear to be solids with surface.

Only have the Creed but I do like that Creed core.  Not a lot of cores are so bottom heavy so gives a little different look for a stronger pearl and its pretty versatile.

I'm not super familiar with the pitbulls but the best I can describe is they are similar to the Kingpin series

Kingpin then Kingpin Max being a little earlier and rounder, Kingpin Rule is most motion

Pitbull, Pitbull Growl is a little cleaner with more backend, Pitbull Bite a little earlier, Pitbull Bark is most motion in the line

I have a potential Kingpin Max trade in place right now from a nothumber!  I may do it because he wants what I have to offer and I will not have to place deep holes on different sides of the mass bias!

I do not think it will be better than this weaker than Kingpin Max, Ruckus but it looks like an interesting trade to me!

By the way he has his Mass bias positioned in his track.  I have never seen those drillings really work on with these over .020 high  mass bias balls unless one could find extremely dry midlanes.  At one time the companies used to warn against this type of drilling.  Viva the no thumbers!  I can buy mass bias balls from them!

Update no deal!  Will watch with interest as traditional righty tries to throw this thing with the same drilling!  See if I am right on negative Mass bias on such a strong Mass Bias ball.

Sincerely,

Luckylefty

Thank you for the info! These things pop up all over eBay so I see them for sale a lot but they always seemed like the whole line did the same thing. Nice to know that there are some subtle differences.
