What Do I do with these?
« on: September 01, 2017, 09:42:42 AM »
I bowled in a ball league over the summer with some co-workers at AMF. They gave four choices, so I picked the DV8 Pitbull and Hammer Scandal.

I am kind of set w. my arsenal, so I was thinking of putting some fun drillings on it, but I'm not familiar with DV8, or their reactions, and I haven't thrown Hammer since college.

The DV8 Pitbull is great for short patterns and long patterns, I have my pin up, but if you want to do something fun, maybe put yours pin down for short patterns.

From what I've seen the Pitbull needs some oil, so put your favorite layout on it and don't be afraid to add some compound or even polish if your conditions warrant it.

Most house shots tend to have plenty of hook so I would try adding a small dose of compound if the ball seems "lazy" to you.  Heavy oil balls, by nature, tend to read early and be more smooth, so by adding the compound it will give you more push and response later, unless you are speed dominant.  I have not seen the Scandal on the lanes so perhaps someone else can help.  Good luck.

I have the Scandal Pearl and have seen the Scandal in person.  The solid is very strong fairly smooth (but still good backend) fairly early symmetric piece.  Not a benchmark ball and though they say can be used on medium I would say better off on medium heavy side to heavy.  Also has a nearly indestructible cover stock (at least pearl does).  I would probably put a high grit surface and maybe polish it if I was going to mostly throw it on THS.
