The ball is 500, rough buff, high gloss out of the box. Maybe try refinishing the same without the high gloss. Or you could do as charlest said and start at 4000 with no polish and go down from there.
I throw two handed and the ball still needs friction to hook. However, given too much friction it will snap hard and keep going. I have mine at 4000 with polish for maximum length and it's become my benchmark ball on a house shot. But as I said, I still need to find some friction. I've seen this ball slide right down the lane if I go through the heavier oil at the wrong angle. I like using it because it allows me to play a bit straighter with more control. Shot my best game and series with it a couple of weeks ago. Love the ball.
