This is definately an overdue review...

Dynothane was nice enough to send myself a High Energy to test out:

Original Ball Specs: 3” pin / 3.44 oz of top weight
Drilling: 4-5/8” pin x 4-1/8” CG with pin 3-3/8 above midline with a 23/32" extra hole drilled 2" deep on my PAP.  Ending weights were 3/4 oz top weight, 1/2 oz side weight and 5/8 finger weight
Style: High rev player with a 12.5” track circumference and a high track (5-1/2” x 1-3/8”)

Test Condition (ball in box condition):
Medium oil with slight carry down on a 38ft THS…surface is synthetic heads with wood backends.  I have been able to play anywhere from 25 to 15 at the arrows and with a more direct line or an extreme swing to open up the lane.  I get a nice push out of the ball, but it doesn’t want to push past my break point like a pearl will sometimes do.  The backend is really predictable even though the ball is so strong on the turn.  This ball flat out drives when it hits the whole!!  I have recently been comparing this ball to Dynothane’s Vendetta Sniper and Pure Energy.  This ball gets the added length of the sniper, but due to the core dynamics I am able to get  more flare and finish off of the dry.  I have found that I use this ball when my Pure Energy encounters a little too much carry down or when I need to get in just a pinch deeper, where the particle ball won’t finish hard enough.  

Overall I like the HE and think Dynothane has a great aggressive hybrid based ball on their hands.  This ball offered a great mid-lane read with a predictable, yet strong finish on medium heavy conditions.  The power through the pins in incredible…better than most every other ball I have thrown.  Overall I can see this ball becoming one of my favorites and when paired with the original Energy a league or tournament bowler could have a great 1-2 punch.

I may be alone when i say this, but i was not a fan of the high energy. had it laid out the same as my energy which i loved, 5 x 4 1/2. expected this ball to have close to the same shape as the energy, with a little more hook overall, and a little more midlane. first few times i threw it i thought there was something wrong with it, would not move. tried polishing it as i thought it was burning up too soon, not the case, still didn't move. tried a weight hole in it to get the side weight down to about 1/2 oz, not the case still didn't move. overall was very dissapointed with the high energy. did not move as much as advertised. for me, didn't move at all.

I am a Power Tweener with a ball speed around 16 - 18 mphs. Ball Tilt is 45 to 60 degrees. Layout on ball is 4 3/4 by 3. Surface prep is OOB with a silght touch of finesse. This ball is drilled like my Black Vendetta. The High Energy gets through the Heads easier that the black Vendetta and has a little pop on the back end. Try this ball on a Old Wood House with a 38 ft pattern and really bad heads. Great in the Fresh for a 684.Used in the late leauge and the ball burned up and needed to have juice up front to save energy. Used the ball on plastic the next night and the ball was too strong on for the dry and not enough in the oil. For me, this is a good medium ball with layout and surface prep. Btw, Plastic lane condition is 38 ft with crisp backends and not a heavy load of oil.

Got this ball used with "less than 10 games" and it certainly looked like it. Anyway, I received the ball actually polished as the former owner liked the polished reaction better.

Bowler specs:
14-15 at pindeck
Decent Revs ~ Tweener at most.
Track about .5-1" from middle finger and 2-3" from thumb.

Ball is drilled with the pin directly below ring with the CG a little below midgrip and kicked right. Small weighthole about 3" right of CG and down an inch or so.

Polished the ball probably gets a good 5 feet further down the lane, and it is more forgiving on a lighter THS as well as less prone to burn out. If you are planning to use this ball when there isn't a whole lot of oil to play I would definitely reccommend some polish. Definitely more skid/flip with the polish applied.

At the center I sub at this ball worked pretty well polished, but wanted to bring it back to OOB for the slicker lanes I bowl at on Tuesdays. So far it has rolled very well for me, and is great in the 3rd game when everybody else starts leaving corner pins from carrydown. A earlier more predictable read at 1000 grit with no polish, and less over/under reaction. Still fairly forgiving if left out to the right, and will not overreact as it did sometimes when polished.

Overall hook this ball is fairly comparable to my Pure Energy in terms of overall boards covered... (a little later to start up but a little more backend). Probably 5 boards stronger than my ZR40.

Overall a great ball on Medium to Med-Heavy. I have actually been able to play it on less as long as I chased the oil line. (inside 4th gets a little weird for me tho). Thanks for another winner Phil!

Ok, Second High Energy is a Negative Pin placement with 7 inch from axis with with a postive C.g. with a weight hole on the axis.Ball is taken to 4000 grit with polish. Ball drilled for a late leauge and a condition specific needs. Center used at is an old wood house with bad heads and a hugh track area and spotty backends. Once the lanes burn up in the first 5 frames ... Ball rolls very well .. gives push on the bad heads and recovery on the bad backends .. Great condition specific ball.
