Dyno-Thane has created an all-new weight block and coverstock for the Elixir. The completely redesigned weight block features an improved tri-stack design with Dyno-Sphere(tm) technology, a dense inner core creating a low rg (2.525). On top is a 4" brick (flip block) for tremendous flare potential (7" plus). Encompassing this core is an all-new GT(tm) (Gripping Technology) particle coverstock for added traction in the oil. The surface of the GT coverstock can be easily adjusted for a specific reaction on most lane surfaces. The specifications are: Weight Block: Tri-Stack design with Dyno-Sphere inner core; Cover Stock: GT(tm) particle; Weights: 12-16 lbs.; Finish: 1000-Grit Sanded; Color: Deep Maroon/Black; Pin Position: 0-5"; Radius of Gyration: Low (2.525); Differential: High (.059); Flare Potential: 7" plus; Hook Potential: 23/19 Dull/Shiny.

The Elixir Hook A Lot Compare To Rev G-Force & Has A Tremendous Hitting Power, My Coach Johnson Cheng

Told Me That For Sure Am Going To Love This Ball & I Got Shock When I Did Use It, Shot A 933 In 4 Games,

Then Next Day Shot A Series Of 1002 In 4 Games. I Really Enjoyed Seeing The Ball Hit The Pins.

This Ball Really Hook A Lot & Doesn't Respect The Oil. No One Does It Better Than DYNO-THANE!!!

I would like to thank Wes Pye for sending me this ball to test out. I left me Elixir with the factory finish and drilled it with a 5x5 drill pattern. I used this ball in my league tonight which tends to have an almost reverse block shot out. Well let me just say that like normally there was out of bounds and over hook in the middle. But the Elixir was able to recover off the out of bounds and even when I made a mistake inside in the dry, it still held pocket (sometimes a 4 pin). But overall this ball is tremendous, hits like a tank and helped me create more area than I have ever had bowling in this house. I will report back when I try to shine the ball and see what that does to my area and carry. Let me just say that if anyone is afraid to drill this because of the Dyno-Thane brand name...start rethinking or you may just miss out on an excellent ball. Any questions please feel free to email me.

This was written by Ken Carvell, a pro shop staff member.

Tried the Elixer on a fresh house shot in box condition.  It is a strong hooking ball that I would rate just a few boards less than the El Nino Gold, that I have.  What did impress me the most was how well it recovered on my errant shots to the outside.

After a proper warm-up for myself, I took the ball over to another pair that had a flatter oil pattern for a few shots.  Taking a guess at the line I would play, I was able to string nine in a row before leaving a corner pin. It definitely liked that little extra oil it found.  Although it didn't bother me at all, I did notice that it picked up more conditioner than other balls that I have.

I think that it's a good ball for my game, and I've heard plenty of good things from others, who have used it.
Thanks
Bill

7" flare POTENTIAL.. in my case, we're talking almost ZERO.. but that is a good thing.. 3" of flare, which is almost next to nothing since the differential in this ball would make it seem to generate tons of flare.. Although, I have witnessed another individual w/ an Elixir in which case i threw and did get 7" of flare. With the ball I had drilled up, I put the pin at 12 o'clock under the fingers kicked the cg out.. If  you wanna put it into degrees, it's about a 5 degree drilling. We are talking smooth through the heads, with a nice transition through the midlane and with all of that stored energy of retaining axis rotation until it hits dry, THEN WATCH OUT PINS.. This is the most incredible hitting ball I've seen today.

I have reviewed the Enforcer and the Pearl Rev/X 3 times (due to the fact I own 2 and had to review the first one twice, 'cause it's just that damn good), to give you an idea of the balls I've reviewed, but the point is THE ELIXIR IS IN A CLASS ALL IT'S OWN.. The Enforcer hits, but THE ELIXIR is just INCREDIBLE.

Drilled my second Elixir, with the pin at 12 and the Cg next to my fingers, which places the mass bias in the strong position. I highly shined this ball and i finished with 3/4 oz. side and 1 oz. finger weight.  Compared to my first Elixir, this ball clears the heads as clean and recovers twice as strong as my first Elxir. Basically, I felt the polish allowed me to play a more inside line and still have the recovery and carry. The dull surface tended to work better on more evenly oiled lanes, for more of a straighter line attack. Basically this ball is very easy to adapt to the lanes that you are bowling on. This ball works well from different angles and for different releases and ball speeds. What I am saying is that if you don't give this ball a try you will be missing out on a golden opportunity.

My girlfriend recently purchased an Elixir to replace her El Nino Gold. The Gold would always roll out leaving her with a lot of 5 pin leaves. It only works well super polished but of course this won't work in 40 ft. of oil. The Elixir is a perfect ball for for freshly oiled lanes. It has a nice smooth hooking action towards the pins and has never left her with a 5 pin. It hits hard but not as hard as the Cuda/C but definitely one of the hardest hitting balls today. Its overall hook is much desired which is more than any of the Storm balls around.

I bought the elixir about two months ago. My PAP is 5 1/4 over and 3/8 up. Average speed and about average revolutions. My ball had a pin out about 1 1/2 inches. I drilled the ball with the pin 3 1/2 from my pap and the cg 4 ".  No weight hole. I tried the ball on a variety of lane conditions and also altered the surface a lot. First condition  synthetic heavy oil in the middle and light outside(wet/dry). When the ball was in the out of box condition it rolled very early and hit well in the oil, but in the dry-watch out. It was not very productive and didnt leave ANy room to the right, not what i was looking for. I shine the ball, it did give it more length and rolled better but not a ball for the wet dry dondition.

Next shot nice even oil pattern.

With the ball shined it performed great, just what i was looking for. Good length, great recovery and if i tugged it i slide just long enough.

Cover seems to be the same as el nino 2000(ive worked on both and thats my observation)

final analysis

good ball, but may not be a all purpose ball. Conditon and cover specific. If you bowl tournaments, its a good piece, but if you only buy one ball a year-look elsewhere because it may not be what you are looking for.

over all

7 1/2 out of 10

This ball picked up from a Nationally

known amateur.  Pin and Cg right on top of each other!

Ball heavily polished.  Not many choices

with this pin cg combo so the ball is drilled with the pin and cg right on the center of the grip.

Expected to be a non dynamic ball right

with this pin and CG combo and being particle.

Not! This ball has so much backend its unbelievable.  Tested by me an another lefty who is a little slower and has also medium revs.  Both of us covered more boards on the back than any ball

besides my Lane#1 Rasberry or Pantera

when there are backends.

For the slower speed bowler because of the tremendous flare potential of this ball, the ball can overreact dramatically if thrown softly.

This ball has lots of hit but I believe this ball will be very condition specific and bowler specific.

Once you get lined up and and keep your speed up it will be awesome.  Preferred condition heavier oils.  For righties this ball will not last long, for lefties if it lasts the a set I would be surprised.

In comparison I like the Angle Evolution tour on a heavier shot better.

more controllable, or the Pantera good on heavy also but playable for more games.

In summary, a very strong conditional ball that I would expect to see tweaked for a little less flare soon.

Regards,
