What more to add with my 44?
« on: February 21, 2007, 01:24:17 AM »
Used to bowl about 4years ago back in high school. I exclusively threw track only at that time. 4years later I am back and trying to become serious about the game again. Just got a new account so I'll update my profile when time permits.

Now for the question, I decided I wanted something a bit different so I went and bought the 44 mag as my first out of the bag ball. I am more than impressed, so I want to stick with either Dyno or Roto to complete the rest of the arsenal. What is stronger and more suited for heavy oil in comparison to the 44?

Any response would be appreciated, thanks for your time.

He's right.  Those are the only two balls in the lineup that would fit far enough above the 44 to be worthwhile.  The Ne10 and CM should fit above it but not be different enough to have them all in a two- to three-ball arsenal.

If you like the reaction of the 44, I think the Threshold would be the best fit for more oil.  Has a lot of the same roll characteristics but is earlier and cuts through the oil better.

I sort of came to that conclusion. The Threshold is about the only ball I could find in the lineup that has enough additional umph compared to the 44 to warrant a purchase.

I know the PE is not as impressive off the breakpoint as the Threshold is, however, I believe it is better in True Heavy Oil.  The 44 handles a lot of conditions.  When you get realy bad over under, or the middle is just soup, It has been my experience with these balls that the PE is more controllable on Heavy Oiled Patterns.  You can also find PEs for a steal right now.
