I see the time Phil posted, he was prolly ready for his afternoon nap. I think you should consider the Vendetta Black. Maybe a 4x4 layout with some shine.
I'm really beginning to like this ball a lot. It's exactly a "medium" ball all across the board. It's very responsive to the layout... read: versatile. And the coverstock accepts polish very well, which makes the ball even more versatile.
The ball will read the midlane enough to give you a read as to what is out there. If you play the dry, it'll hook. Play the oil, it'll hold. My pro shop guy, who is on Storm staff, is selling a lot of these not because they are asking for Dyno-thane, but because it seems to fit so many people's needs. People want a ball they can use on more than one type of condition. The Vendetta Black is a great introduction to the DT line, in my humble opinion. Give it a layout you are confident in and have had success with... WHAMMO! You've got yourself a ball you'll keep in your bag. Add to the fact that the ball is so dern inexpensive, it's a no brainer.
My recomendation is to get the Vendetta Black. I'll wager you'll like it enough to get a Vendetta Particle when you want a big arcing ball... or the THING when you want a little more length and a little more pop... or the THING RETURNS when you want even more skid and flippy reaction... hence an arsenal you'll be competitive (and happy) with.
