If Mika hadn't carried that 2 pin jumble in the 2nd/3rd frame and pulled that ball about 5 boards inside around the 8th frame, Jim Pratt would be the current PBA champ. Having a plastic ball beat a specially tuned, special forumlated resin ball would have been the ultimate step back towards Bowling's integrity!! pity.

You DT folks have to read the replies I got over on the Brunswick forum to the same post I put there. They got so bent out of shape over it. I was quite surprised.

Of course, I had to add a manual "smiley face" afterwards. Still Jim Pratt put on a great show; he handled the pressure wonderfully. Except for a couple of pulled shots, he bowled very well, indeed!

Well Charlest, it's because you didn't really sound like you were kidding.  Especially considering how so many posts on here are "technology this, THS that, etc".

I was just happy to not have Patrick Allen on again, if there is somebody I can't stand more I don't know who it is.  There is absolutely no reason, I just hate watching him.  To get that  far with plastic is quite an accomplishment, I think he lost faith a few times and tugged it, but other than that a real nice showing.  Its just a shame for him Mika was playing the lane where he was, if it was normal Mika there would have been a sunken fish.

Pratt's performance was the epitome of the following:

it's not the ball, it's the bowler... PERIOD!!!! (edited thanks to seadrive, between him and Rags...you can NEVER spell 'nuthin' wrong here ! )

Peroid?

Sorry Jeff, but I disagree.  Pratt's shots were every bit as good as Mika's (some, ahemmm, would say they were better), but the ball Mika used gave him area and pin-swishing carry that Pratt did not have.

So, in a one-game match, was it the bowler or the ball?  I say it was the ball.

I attribute it to sheer luck, not the ball. Luck must somehow be further removed from the equation in order to have greater bowling integrity. Notice, I did not say we will return to integrity. By "integrity" I am implying the bowler with the better execution should ALWAYS win. Without that, the luckier bowler will always win, and for those who are inclined, please do not say, luck comes with skill. We all know that catch-phrase is nonsense. In any case, without the better executioner (no joke) winning more often than now, respect for the sport of bowling is just a dream.
