New to this board, and bowling pretty much. A little background: I bowled as a teenager about 16 years ago. Bought a D/T Cure last year and joined a league. Average about 170, I think mainly due to my inconsistency in releases (sometimes I come around the side of the ball instead of coming off the back. I was told coming off the side was bad, but I think it may have more to do with ball and drilling? Help me out here, guys. Isn't that why people have different axis of rotation?)and not hitting my mark. Also, my Cure is drilled for drier conditions,(the driller here used the term "skatey"), and we usually had a little too much oil for the ball to move the way I'd like. I threw a pretty basic shot (I'm RH), most of the time a down-and-in shot over the 10-11 board, or vary a little by throwing over the third arrow and swinging it out a bit before coming back into the pocket. I wouldn't mind trying the swinging shot over the 15-20 and out to the 5-8.
My revs are on the low side, and the oil track runs left of my fingers and thumb holes. The pin on my Cure is probably about an inch right and a few inches above my right finger hole. I'm throwing a 15lb ball.
I'm currently stationed in Bahrain where there are only a few houses. Synthetic lanes and a lot of oil; to 36-40 ft. I think they double buff the back end, but they're always using different patterns. I need a ball that will work/react well in heavy oil. I have a plastic ball for spares and will keep the Cure for drier conditions.
I was looking at getting a Storm Fear Factor when I came across the Anomaly, which sounds like something I want to try. Couple questions (since you guys obviously have way more knowledge than I): Would you recommend the Anomaly (or what would you suggest), what pin placement and top weight should I shoot for, and drill pattern.
Flame away! Like I said, I'm new here. Break me in gently!
