Pearl Thing Lives or Anomaly?
« on: August 23, 2005, 03:20:28 PM »
Any chance of ever seeing those two great cores (TL and Anomaly) again in 100% Pearl or perhaps the new Maxx or Sniper covers?

Was just wondering... Since they both roll so smooth...

Phil i know you had more experience with the line than most of us but the TR wasn't much of a smooth roller here. That ball was like J-Lo around here, big backend.

For a pearl, it was smoother than most, if you didn't put the pin between 3-4 from the pap.  Mine was 5 from the pap, below the fingers.  But the point is that the Cores talked about here, plus a %100 pearl is likely to lead to the Thing Returns, or something very close to it.

I had my TR with a 4" pin and it was one of the most angular balls I have seen in quite some time...  reminded me of when I originally bought my first beast pearl way back when.... [drifting off in a dreamy state]...  currently, I haven't seen anything react that way (although I'm hoping my AMB pearl will be similar)...

smooth rolling pearl... sort of like he trauma pearl?

My TR was 4.5 pin up n over ring with cg kicked out 45... 2 words: FLIP MONSTER...

However Phillip, I could see if I drilled the guts out of one, I think I could calm it down. My Anomaly was a 4 in pin under ring 45... arced more than Noah's boat! Was just wondering "what if" as I started this thread. I drilled my Energy just like my Anomaly and LOVE it!!! Very forgiving and predictable. My TR is condition specific...

I wasn't trying to say that a Thing Returns would be smooth -- and if I came off as saying that, I was wrong.  In my case, tending to throw the ball straight end over end or very close to it it is easier to tame than if one has substantial sideroll (even then it has a strong, but controllable backend, which is why I liked it -- see my review).

That, however, was not the point I wished to make.  All Air ForceOnce noted he would like to see the Anomaly core or the TLives Core in a pearl.  Assuming it was a "soaker" pearl, my point was that one is extremely likely to get a reaction similiar to the Thing Returns, because the core dynamics are similar and you are putting a pearl soaker cover on the ball.

What makes the Anomaly and the Thing Lives smoother is their covers -- solid Soaker and enhanced Soaker, which tends to pick up early and smoothly (my Element, for example, despite its high differential, never was "flippy" in any real way because of the Soaker cover.  The Thing, which was a combination of the pearl and solid soaker, was fairly smooth (with a similar core) but could have a fairly harsh backend depending on the axis rotation one used.

Thus, what you like about those balls, probably can't be easily duplicated with a pearl.  I found that if I was willing to put up with the extra length, I could polish the Anomaly up substantially and get a later reaction, but even with the polished Anomaly, it tended to be flippier than I would have thought.
