Just drilled 2nd ENERGY (this one is GOOD!)
« on: March 23, 2005, 03:33:13 PM »
To make a long sweet lovely story short... my first ENERGY was from a "bad" run of balls so Dyno Thane being the great company they are sent me another one... and this new one is STRONG!

They are drilled the exact same.

I'm very surprised at what this ball can do in the last several feet!

Mine is polished up pretty glossy.

This ball is being billed as having great length and a strong backend. It does have a Medium/Low RG and a very high RG DIFFERENTIAL. Both the RG and RG DIFF. say this this ball should roll early and flare alot... but I'm seeing a ton of length and severe backend snap (it must have something to do with this "POP" core).

The ENERGY is effortless through the heads... I'm dead serious on this, it's not only clean through the heads, but it rolls like plastic through the heads. Those that have this ball may understand what I mean by this. For it to roll like this through the heads, the ball must not be flaring much at all in the first part of the lane.

The backend is very sharp!

It's as close to a pure "skid/flip" ball as I've seen. Most of my BIG Backending pearl balls like the AZO Ultima RP and Storm Recharge have a slight bit of Midlane which leads to a very hard ARC... but the ENERGY honestly feels like it has NO MIDLANE at all!!! It starts up just AFTER the Midlane and then it's ALL backend from there!

Someone explain that to me!

I know Phil Cardinal may still be upset with me at calling the 1st ENERGY a "turd". But please understand that I was calling the "bad run" of ENERGY's a "turd" (before I knew that they're were any bad ones, I just thought MINE was a "turd" possibly with the way I drilled it or something???)... not the original ENERGY design that you created this ball to be in the first place!

The "good" run of ENERGY's that are being sent out to people now are what Phil originally designed this ball to be about and he has got something great here!

I'm so excited about the Thing Lives, Barrage, and now Energy... that I may look into the Crisis Pearl (I just wish the Crisis Pearl was a SOAKER!)! I'd be fine with having mostly a Dyno Thane arsenal!!!

To all the guys that have gotten another ENERGY from Dyno Thane that had the bad ones to begin with... what do you think of this ball???

i just drilled the Energy last night, i am normally a Brunswick guy but i had it in the shop and so i punched it up.... it surprised me. flat out, i was shocked by the great smooth roll.... i left mine factory hence it does not have the crazy backend that you described so i might have to gloss it up a bit... but for the way it is right now you are dead on... it revs up hard just passed the midlane and for me is very controllable and smooth in the back... i have an extremely high rev rate so polishing it up might be perfect... the POP core is awesome and it Gives the Energy its place on the map... i would recommend this ball to any and all...

How do you tell if the Energy is a good one or a bad one?  I have one that I havent drilled up yet.  Bought it from the sale that was advertised on this site.

Thanks.

MI 2 AZ phil said in another post that all bad balls have been accounted for, i have one polished it is another great ball. I am happy to stick with this compnay even after one ball that did not work for me at all. BUt every other dynothane ball i have works great and i will buy most of the new ones, i do not think i will get the maxx because my particle still works well and i think it will be too close to the one i already have.

Thanks for the info, mrbowlingnut.  I had bought one of the early Energy's so I was a bit concerned.  I know that the smaller companies like D/T, RG, and Visionary are all willing to stand behind their products but I just wanted a way to check on mine.

UPDATE:

Just used this new ENERGY in league and almost shot 800 with it.

I had to double in the 10th frame to be in the low 800's... but on the first ball in the 10th, I let one slip a little to fast off my hand with not much on it and blew my chance at 800.

Oh well.

I threw a friend's Thing Returns a while back and I have to say my ENERGY does have more backend sure enough. I found the Thing Returns to be archy... but the ENERGY is all FLIP (or at least mine is)!

Well, you may have a blem/defect like alot of us had. Because if this ball doesn't hook then something has to be wrong with the ball because the Energy Is very strong!

Contact Dyno Thane and tell them.

I was also one of the few to get one of the tur..... bad balls. After 2 months of waiting for the "Real" energy, all I can say is that the wait was well worth it.

I too had mine drilled the same as the first.

The first time I threw this replacement,it seemed to react like the bad ball through the heads and the midlane nothing at all. It was only until it got to those last few feet of the lane that I saw the true explosive energy of this ball. Like Ric Clint I am very surprised what this ball can do in the last few feet. No flare at all down the lane, but once it gets to the last few feet the reaction is beautiful.

I have never seen so many messengers on light or heavy hits, making this ball very forgivable. The only way to understand what this ball can do is to bowl it yourself, and you will also be very surprised. WOW!

Was there a range of serial numbers that these defects occurred in?  I have one NIB sitting here that I bought earlier from Tony but I havent gotten around to having it drilled yet and I dont want to, just to find out I have a bad one.  It would be nice to know before putting some holes in it.
