Soaker Coverstock
« on: December 11, 2006, 09:55:41 AM »
Came across a pure energy really cheap but i have never owned a soaker coverstock ball.  Are there any do/donts with this type of coverstock when it comes to cleaning?

Thank you
Greatness

Don't necessarily know if there's do's and dont's, but treat it like any other premium coverstock with cleaning after sets and the occasional hot water bath and this particular coverstock will last you twice as long as the others. I have a Thing Returns that has probably at least 350+ games on it and it's still going strong. Actually, I just ordered another Thing Returns so I'll be set for a long, long time.

I'd only warn you that the ball won't reveal its true character for 20+ games or thereabouts.

Don't be disappointed, don't even try to evaluate it until ti has at least 25 games on it. If you get good, proper use from it before that point, then sometime thereafter expect to see it start hook more. You'll be surprised and wonder what's happening ...

Also remember the Pure Energy is a True Oiler.  It will not have a violent move, and it can burn out on Medium to drier surfaces.  However, On Oil it is a monster.

basic rule of theumb is clean with dish washing liquid and water, or premium ball cleaner found in most pro shops either online or locally. Probably the best cover in the business in terms of duribility and longevity when properly taken care of.

For whatever reason i was thinking putting the "soaker" coverstock underwater would do damage because it would "soak up" the water or dishsoap or something crazy.

Thanks everybody

LOL, I think not, then again you might end up with a round sponge.
