More oil than my Anomaly can Handle....

Everything I throw now is D/T...but I just bought a used Super carbide bomb. I needed something that would hook a little more than my Anomaly in flooded conditions. I have my anomaly at 400 grit dull and here is a pic of the drill.

The SCB that i'm getting is drilled thumb leverage. Will it be alot stonger than my Anomaly? I hated to go outside the D/T family b/c I love the way all my D/T stuff rolls and hits. I just wanted to see if all the hype about the SCB being the best oiler is true.

WHY would you hate going outside the family?? If your not on staff, who cares??  But the scb should be much stronger than the anomaly.

It will hook a lot more if you use that drilling, the pic of your Anomaly shows a relatively weak drilling (in my opinion) that might be one reason it doesn't hook enough.

And 400 grit?  The ball might be burning up too early if you have any hand in it!

My anomaly hooks alot on medium oil, but on heavy oil I have to play more up the middle and cant really get a good entry angle to the pocket. I want something that I can swing a little and pick up a roll a little earlier. I hope the SCB will accomplish this.

I'm not trying to be rude, but if you're already getting it drilled, why ask?  Throw them side by side on the same conditions and you'll have your answer.  Not every ball works the same for everybody, so you get the chance for a perfect opportunity to find out for your style.

Since the Anomaly is strong resin and the SCB is a med-high? load particle, I would expect the Anomaly to have more backend in med-med/heavy oil, and the SCB to be stronger overall in the soup.

Strider,

It's already drilled for thumb leverage from the person i'm buying it from. If you check my profile, you'll see that I throw thumbless and if I like the way it rolls/reacts, then I won't have too get it redrilled. I know I will get to see first hand how different they are, but I know very little about drillings and how they react. I just wanted to get a heads up on what I should expect to see out of the SCB.


The prince says my drilling is a relativly weak drilling on the Anomaly....what would be a stonger drilling?

What drilling would you suggest may be better for heavy oil for a stronger move in the middle. Its not burning up...I don't think. It seems to skid a little farther than I need in heavy.

I guess I didn't fully understand your initial post.  I thought you had already taken the ball and had it plugged and redrilled with that pattern.  Anyway, I'd still throw them first to see where they stand.  Then you'll know how you want the SCB redrilled (if at all) and the surface prep of the Anomaly.  More than likely, I'd probably bring the surface up to 800-1000 grit on the Anomaly so there's a gap between it and the SCB.  The SCB should roll earlier and handle more oil than the Anomaly.  I bought a used Buzzsaw that had the thumb leverage layout and it worked very well for the ball.

Either layout 2 or 3 on the Dynothane drill sheet, the reason that I thought your ball was drilled a little weak was because the CG was under your palm, further from your PAP than the pin.

Just a forewarning, the SCB may hook LESS than the Anomaly. That is unless you have A LOT of oil! We had a guy get one last year in our house got it a pound lighter to keep speed up and STILL couldn't get it to not burn.  That is one real aggressive ball. If you have soup then ur set, if its just a heavy house like ours then I hope you really send it.  The Anomaly was a nice ball at our house, well I liked it, but the SCB wouldn't cut it there. If you get it and it won't hook first of all, go straiter and stay in the heaviest parts of the lane and if thats no good get some polish, I would say you could put it up to 1000 grit and still have it work well in oil, no lie.  Good luck, and keep that baby around for when you see more oil than anything else can handle.

I think our oil volume will be sufficient for the SCB. My normal strike ball speed on Qubica is 18-19 MPH. If it starts hooking too early, I can throw 20-21mph and still be comfortable doing it. I cant wait to see what this baby is made of!!
