Energy drill suggestios
« on: March 17, 2007, 01:10:44 PM »
Just won a new Energy at a Kegler tournament, it has a 1" pin. I don't hvae any experience with dyno balls. Looking for some recommendations on the drill pattern. I'm a down and in player, 13-14 mph, 225 rpm. I'd like to try and drill it for med. oil patterns. Thanks in advance.

Naw, you can drill it however you like so long as the top weight's not too goofy.  Think "degree" layout rather than absolute inches.

It's a strong ball, I love mine.  It's drilled roughly 4.5x4.5 with the pin at the fingerline.  If the top weight is low, you can put the pin at or just above the fingerline, kick the CG a little, and if necessary, drill the fingers a little deeper.  That will let you move in pretty well if you have to.

As I said, it's strong, so you may want to take it to 1000-grit plus polish if you're wanting to use it on real mediums.  My rev rate is probably close to yours but my speed is more like 15mph at the deck and I have to move in sometimes to use that ball.
