Pin's recessed @ 1/8 inch
« on: December 25, 2005, 12:23:44 PM »
Just now during my weekly equipment cleaning I've discovered my Vendetta Particle Pearl's, my first out of the bag ball!!, pin has recessed @ 1/8 inch into the surface of the ball.
What's this all about? Any ideas? Ball is about 1 1/2 years old and it's still just a youngster.. I noticed it was acting strangely last part of my latest league, but I just assumed it was me (2nd shift-4th league of the week blues). But now I'm wondering...
Do I need to replace it or will it be okay as is now?
Also, I think this ball has been retired and that worries me even more than I can say. I'm bowling four leagues a week and two of them are money added leagues. And, I need this ball in my bag!!
Sorry to whine, but this and my Vicious Strike (that's on its last resurface and is another retired ball) have been my down-and-in bread and butter balls.
Help? Thanks.

Pins at the beach are top heavy; therefore, the scores are higher.

How close is the pin to the finger holes?  I had a Core Power LRG that did something similar and it was due to the light density filler fracturing around the pin.  There was only about an 1/8" between the pin and the finger hole.  I believe at the base of the finger hole the pin had been drilled into as well.

The pin is @ 3/16" from the fingers and I can also see the pin at the bottom of the ring finger hole drill.
Just returned from the lanes and the ball was reacting as well as ever. As a matter of fact, of all my equipment it was the most forgiving, consistant roller I have on those 'after the holidays, backends and outsides have oil pushed all over the place blues' minefield synthetic lanes.
Darn, and until my wife saw my VPP was still reacting as advertised, I was just about to get a Sniper ordered!!! Maybe for my birthday in the spring..
Thanks all!
