I was headed to my car after a long day's work. When ahead of me I noticed this wobbly old guy with blue-ish gray hair. He was kinda crouched over with his hand on the backside of his hip as he reached into his pocket for his keys as he approached a tangerine Ford LTD with missing hubcaps and a blinker that was still blinking.
I tried to look around him to see his face, to see if in fact it was NewGuy, but his face was mostly covered by his hat with tons of those lapel pins (I particularly liked the "Heck Raiser" one). Apparently he was proud of his VFW Bingo Hall since that was on a patch on his plaid polyester shirt, which was right under his 15 Pins Over Average patch (congrats!).
He got in his car and fired up the motor. I was just clear of the exhaust pipes as it coughed up a cloud of black smoke that smelled of Ovaltine. I turned around to see his face but it was obstructed by the handicap sign hanging from his rear view mirror.
I may never know if it was NewGuy or not. Not sure what he'd be doing in Houston, but his thoughts were with me yesterday.
