humor me,... Threshold
« on: January 11, 2008, 08:03:46 AM »
Where do you feel the threshold would rank in the line up of oil balls this year?  I had one when they hit the market as a factory trade off for an undersized ball.  I didn't want it then so I sold it.  I prefer a ball that has a little bit of angle even off of oil, so remembering what I was hearing about this thing, I think it might still be a good choice.   Would it still be considered an oil moster or are we looking at something like a black widow ect...  Thanks for any insight you guys can offer me.

I had the Threshold, but just recently traded it.  For me, it was a good ball, but not the oil monster I thought it would be. I have the D/T Pure Energy, and I feel that was a better oil ball than the Threshold.  However, the Threshold did handle carrydown very well and had a nice backend.

I'm in the same boat as directdrill...

...for me the Threshold was a good ball but it seemed to lack the backend movement that I thought it would have.  In some regards it reminded me a whole lot of the reaction I got from my Special Agents.  I much prefered the Pure Energy as the oil ball within the DynoThane line-up.  I still throw the original Pure Engergy that I drilled up back when I was on their test staff and have another one stashed away.

Hmmm funny you say the pure energy is an oiler for you... mine was about as strait as it got on ANY condition.  Went long and arched for me.  It was awesome on those iffy shots, but no where near what I would consider an oiler.  Maybe I got a dud.   Either way, sounds like the threshold my not be the oiler I need.

Don't get me wrong...the Threshold would cover more boards for me, but I found the roll of the Pure Energy was better for me on heavier oil in that it read the pattern better for me.

Looking back on the Threshold I wish that I tried a pin down drilling on mine...maybe with a low hole.

Oh if you can find one you could also think about a Vendetta Maxx or even a Centrifugal Mass...the CM hooked a TON for me out of the box.

I had a maxx, had to say I liked it, good piece.  The CM might be the ticket.  Never got a hold of one.
