How do you use your Vendetta Sniper?

I've had the ball about two weeks now, and I'm still getting a feel for it.  I play in a house with old wood lanes with synthetic pindecks, with freshly oiled medium to medium heavy house block.  I have medium speed with low revs, and track about 2" from the thumb hole.  So far I've had the most success with the ball playing an outside line, somewhere between 5 and 10, I usually play it right down the 7 or 8 board.  The ball sometimes gets a bit strong from out there, so I was considering polishing it up a little.  What are your experiences with the Sniper?

Sniper is such a great ball!!  My house is half synthetic (heads) and half wood (back half of the lane) with medium/heavy oil and it's pretty open.  Since I've got a good amount of hand and a high track I typically find myself playing around between 3rd to 4th arrow to start and the ball of choice will depend on the amount of oil, etc. that I see.  For me the Sniper (finished with a 4000 abralon pad - see review for the "high pin" one) is a great benchmark ball.  I utilize the ball mainly when I find that my other equipment isn't reading the midlane enough, there is some carrydown or the wet/dry transition is a bit to harsh.

Just can't say enough good things about this ball!!

So you brought your sniper up to 4000?  How did that change the reaction?  Does it go longer now?  That's something I may look at in the future, though as of now I'm leaving it at box and seeing what it can do.  Mine seems a bit on the erratic side right now, did you find you needed a break in period on yours?

I brought one of them up to a 4000 finish.  It helped the ball save a little more energy compared to the box finish.  Thing to keep in mind is that I was able to drill two a once so I changed the surface on the keeper (high pin drilling) and threw it against the other one (lower pin drilling).  The LPR I actually polished at one point and it definately made the ball push further, but I loss a little bit of the roll / control that I had.  

Nope...both of the Snipers worked very well out of the box and didn't need a break in period at all.  Honestly, taking the ball to a higher grit finish will yield some of the lenght that a light polish will but it will be easier to control / predict...at least that's my experience.  If you are bowling up 7 or 8 with this ball on an older wood finish I would suspect that the ball is readin the track area too much and not get far enough down the lane before it starts to release it's energy (hook).  You could change the surface, your hand position or just move left some (if you are RH) to help the ball push a little bit further down the lane or help with it's change of direction.

I find the ball very effective in combating over/under because it won't bump too hard off the dry.  I have it drilled 4 x 3 and 2000 smooth surface.  In my opinion, polishing it kind of defeats the purpose of it being a particle ball in that it will make it snap harder on the back.
