In my everyday job I handle some work doing patent searches and technology R&D. I have found very interesting patents from the likes of Mo Pinel and such, however; there is only one found for Mr. Cardinale.
The Title is;
Bowling ball with top weight and ceramic core
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html&r=22&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PTXT&s1=cardinale.INNM.&OS=IN/cardinale&RS=IN/cardinale
All patents are public knowledge, so there is no privacy issue here. If you input an inventor search for Pinel or Sposato, you will be able to find their patents.
Therefore, is Soaker like McDonald's Secrect Sauce? They have a secret but it is not able to be a patented product? There is no qiestion Soaker is incredibly durable, but maybe it wasn't Phil who came up with it? Maybe it is under someone else's name? There are (2) Coverstock Patents held by the Bayer Corporation about the time Soaker came out. That might be them. Not sure though.
Anyway, if Soaker is not patented maybe Phil will just bring it where ever he goes.

I agree, but a good chemist could buy a Soaker ball, smash to pieces, and figure out what it is made of. At least if it is patented it could be protected better.

Everyone knows what goes in a cake, eggs flour milk etc but the amount and the temp and the time are not know unless told. One could attempt to break the code of the soaker but they would not have the formula, thus trade secret. This is by far the best option. Patents get published and can be modified so one can get around them. The secret formula will always travel with me even to "next ball company".

That is by far the best news I've heard in a while. I can't wait for the dust to settle

Top Weight and Ceramic Core? Hmmm the technology of the Track Synergy and Columbia 300 Cuda/C. Both were great balls and still are. (I know theres other balls like this I just dont know the names/companies off hand)

manu57,
Not sure of the point of the title/subject?
Why wouldn't it be safe? What kind of "safe" are you talking about?

charlest,
I think "safe" as in not being able to be duplicated...by another company/person.

I always heard Soaker was a "Patented" product. However it is not, and is just in the head of Phil and probably Billy. Therefore I'm guessing we will see it in the future on new balls Phil creates; however, if someone really wanted to get into it, you could "technically" recreate Soaker without any legal issue, they just cuoldn't call it Soaker..

Yes. Sometimes, as Cardinale implied, "trade secrets" are easier to safeguard than patents.

Please remember also that what the public trys to figure out and what the scientist or engineer know can be two different things. You got to watch those marketting guys they fill your head full of all kinds of stuff.

With respect to the Soaker coverstock, what are you talking about?

A little off topic. The core in that patent document was also used in the Stingray/C

I'm no chemist, but eggs, milk and butter sound more like baking than chemistry. If thats the case better call in Betty Crocker or Mrs. Smith, lol Next thing well find in a box with a new Cardinale ball will be a coupon for $.50 off of Sara Lee Brownie mix.We can bowl and get fatter at the same time, good idea Phil, LOL

It is great someone is making a stand against what is happening. I guess that Phil holds the golden ticket!
