Hello everyone. I just punched up a Thing last Friday. 1.5 inch pin, 2.2oz topweight. I put the pin a little below and to the right of the ring finger, and the C.G under the ring finger with the Mass Bias left of the thumb. Static weights were 1/2oz positive side, and around 1/8oz top. With my tweener release(about 15.8mph, 300rpms) this ball gives me moderate length and a good read of the midlane. Then on the backend its a very strong arc. At first I thought it was a bit sensitive to oil down the lane, but as I moved my swing closer to the outside I noticed that it was way too aggressive in the dry. Then after 3 games I tried the ball with my two handed release(about 16.5-17mph, 480-500rpms). When I release the ball like this it raises my track significantly higher. The reaction I got out of this ball was the complete opposite. It gave me complete control over the lane and the breakpoint and was very smooth.
This ball finishes as hard as anything I have ever thrown. Lighter shots send flying scouts, pocket shots bury the hole and send pins spinning around vertically until they fall in the pit. I am very pleased. I have a chance to get another Thing for only 99 bucks. I am really thinking about getting this one and trying something a bit different layout wise. That one has a 4 inch pin, and 3oz topweight. I was thinking of putting the pin over the middle finger and kicking the C.G. a bit right of the ring with a weighthole on the PAP. This is usually an early rolling aggressive hook/stop drill for me that works well on later shifts.
I'm not expert on Dynothane but do you guys think I will see much difference in the reaction of two Things drilled different? This is a really aggressive ball out of the dry and is a backend powerhouse for me. I have tried the Crisis in the past and I really liked it. A friend of mine has been singing praises about the Black Vendetta and the Element. Which Dyno should I try next? Lane conditions don't really matter, I just want to see a different reaction than my Thing as I rebuild my arsenal for my upcoming tournaments.
