The TRUTH about the High Energy?
« on: June 09, 2005, 04:49:35 PM »
I know that sometimes you can't take Bowling This Month magazine too seriously about their rating's numbers... but with the THING LIVES, they gave it their highest backend rating with a 16.0 and their highest torque rating with a 7.0. And I agree with both of these rating's! This ball is that strong.

And now the BTM issue with the new HIGH ENERGY is out and they gave the backend rating only a 14.5 and the torque rating a 6.5. Now both of these numbers are still pretty good but I'm wondering if the Thing Lives is actually stronger on the backend like the magazine said or if you people think that the High Energy actually has the bigger backend compared to the Thing Lives?

I've got a dull Thing Lives and a polished Thing Lives and the polished one is as close to a true "skid/snap" as a SOLID resin can possibly be. Usually PEARL balls are the "skid/snap" type of equipment... but the Thing Lives is a different kind of ball.

Now I know that the Thing Lives will handle more oil better... but which will have more backend and which one will have more continuation?

So as far as both balls being in BOX condition (or slightly sanded/dullish)... what's the difference as fas as length and backend? And as far as both balls being in POLISHED condition... what's the difference as fas as length and backend?

Maybe this has been covered, and if so, please point me to that thread.

Thanks!

I can't speak for the High Energy, but I can speak for Thing Lives and The Energy. Backend reactions are ball based on Lane Conditions and the person that is rolling the ball. For instance I have a AU79 that is dulled and on the right lane conditons it hooks more on the back then the Thing Lives, vise versa for the Thing Lives. The Energy on Medium Oil hooks more than both of the ball listed above on the backend. I don't know if I really answered your question, but I hope this helps.

I have both... I have not posted a HE review as of yet... first time online in a month... Moved to UT... in transition...

My HE outhooks my TL. My HE is a Stacked Leverage drill with a zero pitch balance hole (STRONG continutation). My TL is a Label Leverage drill with a 3in Pin-to-PAP (rolls up as it hooks). If I had both NIB and drilled them at the same time I'd probably switch the patterns.

Oh yea... Snow in June SUCKS!
