Complete Dyno Thane Arsenal
« on: April 21, 2005, 03:01:01 PM »
I wanted to start this topic because it's been mentioned several times that the Dyno Thane line of balls should be looked at as an "arsenal", but really there's too many balls to carry all of them unless you take 2 6-ball rollers ... so to set the record straight, let's list the best balls to fill out a complete arsenal right here for everybody to see that is wondering where each ball should fit.

What would you list for this? To cover Heavier Oil down to Drier Oil... It's probably best to keep the arsenal at around 4-5 balls to not get people confused with a bunch of overlaping equipment.

For FLOODS, I've got a AMF TNT sanded to about 320. And then my next ball down is the Thing Lives sanded to about 600-800 and then my Energy is next. Wouldn't the Energy go directly under the Thing Lives?

I'm guessing a complete arsenal would start with the Thing Lives and end with the Barrage?

I'm thinking the Energy would go right under the Thing Lives and that maybe the Crisis Pearl would go right above the Barrage?

But would you go from the Energy directly to the Crisis Pearl or would you put another ball right in between there?

Or would you just skip the Energy all together and go from the Thing Lives down to something else?

I don't know... but I'm almost positive that the Thing Lives would be 1st and the Barrage would be last.

PS... If possible, list some drilling's and coverstock prep for each ball also. The Energy comes kind of dull-ish out of the box so I'm guessing that ball's designer (new guy) thought that this coverstcok prep would better suit the Energy than a higher polished coverstock (I'm wondering why this is though, out of curiosity?)?

New Guy? Other Guy? Anybody?

Thanks!

Phil, where would the High Energy fit in the list below?
quote:
too big a gap. Basically the design purpose was to have a Vendetta line and a Max performance line.
Thus
1) MAxx
2) Black Vendetta
3) Pearl Vendetta
4) Crisis

Or
1)Thing lives
2) Energy
3) Pearl Vendetta
4) Crisis

add a BArrage and an AU79 to each and you'd have 2 sets for travel or house and any combination for unique conditions.

Ranking the balls by our testing and these are our opinions not gospel

1) thing lives
2) Maxx
3) energy
4) Au 79
5) black vendetta
6) pearl vendetta
7) crisis pearl
8) barrage

any combination of odd or even would work. That's how I see the line. Adjust surface to create bigger gaps.
I won't suggest drillings because of past experiences on this sight where we were accused of giving wrong recommendations based on the info we were given and since the ball did not perform as expected it was our fault.

When I had to made a decision on an "arsenal", and I have them all,..to take to the Senior High Roller in Vegas over Easter,..I spent days trying to figure what to take,...with flying limiting my selection it was tough,...so here's what went...
THING LIVES,...if I could take just one ball this one goes.
AU79, a little more length, and I can get deeper, and still get the POP on the backs..
BLACK VENDETTA, most 'versatile cover stock', I can use this from a flood to the desert,..as long as the pro shop has a spinner.
VENDETTA PEARL, for me a great ball for playing late blocks with a dry track, and carry down,..
SPARE BALL..the good ole EAGLE..
out of hundreds of entries,...I finished 5th,....not too bad. jim

Wow, I'm shocked, shocked I say!, to see the lack of respect accorded the Thing Returns.

Far and away my favorite D/T ball...

Hey Phil, you "guys" aren't thinking of discontinung the TR, are you?
