Dyno-Thane Energy?
« on: December 17, 2011, 11:29:56 AM »
Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has thrown a Dyno-Thane Energy? I have an NIB one i'm gonna get drilled and want somewhat of a length drill on it. It has a 1-1.5" pin so length drills will be limited probably. Just wanted to see if anyone has ever thrown one and what the reaction was like so I can get a rough idea of what to expect. Thanks for any help!

I had one and was really disappointed.(Red Energy) It didn't do anything. Played with surface, and different lane conditions and got a lot of nothing. Was drilled with about a 5 to 5.5" inch pin to PAP with the MB just right of the thumb. Had a few other people try it to make sure it wasn't me. It didn't do anything for them either. Was disappointed because it was a great looking ball. Never saw anyone else throw one.

Wish I had better news, or seen others use one to at least say mine may have just been a bad ball. Never saw anyone else throw one. Sad thing is I wasn't looking for a hook monster or anything, just something for THS playing up the boards. Great looking ball.

There was a bad  batch of those a while back that were pure urethane.  You could have gotten one of those.  The ones with the correct cover on them hooked quite a bit.

Is there any way to tell if its from the bad batch or good batch? like serial number maybe, idk.

I had one and it did not do much for me so I inquired on the DynoThane forum as to what serial numbers were effected.  Someone contacted me from DT and asked for my s/n.  After I supplied the info, they sent me a new ball.  DT never came out with a list of the 'bad' balls, they just requested your s/n and if it was one of the 'bad' ones, they replaced it. With DT no longer in business, not sure how you can find out if yours is good or not.

I dug through my info and this was my s/n:
05DNGA13M519

Mine was dull and from what I remember, the 'bad' ones were dull, the good ones were shiny, OOB.  Apparently, one or two batches came out as just a urethane ball, no resin.  Now, I wish I still had that urethane Energy because I could use it for some of the patterns I am seeing.  I ended up giving it to a high-rev bowler after I got the replacement.
