Centrifugal Mass vs. Pure Energy
« on: January 04, 2006, 10:39:53 PM »
Looking at Dyno-Thane's site it states that the CM handles more oil than the PE.  How is that possible?
The CM has a reactive cover and a core RG of 2.51 with a Diff of 0.055.
The PE has a particle cover and a core RG is 2.49 with a Diff of 0.057.
Both balls have the same box finish.
It has been my understanding that dull particle covers are better suited for heavy oil than dull reactive covers (excluding the new epoxy resins).  Also, a lower RG gets the ball into a roll a bit sooner which is also good on heavier patterns.
So what's the deal?  Is the scale for the CM on Dyno-Thane's site a typo?  If not, this reminds me of the Anomaly when they touted that as their ball to conquer the flood.  I fell into that trap and bought one only to find out it was a medium condition ball at best.  The Anomaly was the only ball that I have ever disliked from Dyno-Thane by the way.

The core is where the difference is at.  The CM was specifically designed to help the tour guys compete on some of the slicker oil patterns they see.  From my time with both balls I could easily see where the CM is stronger not only in the oil but on the transition.  The Pure is a great ball and what I use as my oil lane ball, but I can open up a lane more with the CM even back when it was in box condition.

Does there have to be fresh backends for you to be able to open-up the lane with the CM though?

What is the particle load in the PE? (light, medium, or high)
