Recommendations for Drill and polish for High Energy
« on: January 25, 2006, 04:50:01 PM »
As you know I recently have acquired a Pure energy which I am in love with, but I also have a High Energy coming in for me next Monday and am looking to make it my lighter oil ball.

I am a medium revs 14 to 15 mph type of guy and am leaving my Pure energy finish as is.

What kind of drilling and/or grit and/or polish would you reccoment for me on my High Energy keeping in mind that I am looking for  more of a Skid/flip reaction and the ability to use it on lighter conditions.  I still want it to move a lot in the back as I don't want to have to put a lot of extra hand into it.

Thanks

Well, the "plain" Energy is actually the pearl for lighter oil, say medium-light oil. The Energy is a solid/pearl combo which comes 800 grit dull and is intended for medium to medium-heavy oil patterns, depending on your hand, ball speed and drlling.

However if you MUST force this ball to play light oil patterns, and if you have any hand at all (assuming your "medium revs" is a true medium revs), i'd start with probably a 5" to 5.5" pin to pap distance AND polish to about a 1500 grit with Storm's Xtra Shine polish (very good stuff).

both the energy and the high energy covers are easy to modify, up and down.

good luck.

Thanks for the input...yeah i'm going to get reccomendations from my driller as well, but he has no direct experience wiht DT balls so I thought I'd get the ball knowledge from you guys and then combine that with my driller's knowledge of my game.

I'm basically just looking to have the High Energy as a all around ball for everything under my Pure so basically everything under medium heavy...usually the Pure will be the first out of my bag at my league house (since I bowl right after fresh oil is put out), but would like something for drier conditions at other houses or the occasional 3rd game when necessary.

ok that's like TOTALLY different from "lighter" oil.
for that I would NOT recommend what I said above.

the HE should fit under the pure energy as it comes out of the box. how much lighter oil it will cover for you depends on your revs, ball speed and other release factors. it is not, per se, a light oil ball, as i said above.

you have no release/delivery data in your profile; so it's impossible to be more specific.

Mostly a stroker...tweener at very most...

Can't tell you exact revs as I need to videotape myself to find out...I don't get a ton but I get enough to make sure a ball does what it's supposed to.
Less than the crankers in my league, but more than all the old guys and women and a lot of the other stroker types.

14 to 15 as I said as far as speed and my balls track about an inch and a half outsied my fingers and thumb.

After that I can't give you much more...
