Thing Returns still rockin'....
« on: August 31, 2007, 07:18:26 AM »
After 3+ years and god only knows how many games, this ball is truly still my go to ball. Started out leagues on Tuesday night and threw this first game for a nice little 249. Decided to try a different ball for the second game and shoot 201 so switched back to the Thing Returns for the last game for 245. Still an amazing ball for me. I do take care of this ball with regular cleaning and baths and she shows no sign of stopping. This is one of the big reasons I'm extremely sad to see Dynothane go....

PS-I'm extremely thankful, however, that last fall, my ball driller got a second Thing Returns for me that sits undrilled in my closet at home.... but who knows when I'll ever need it.

Great ball no doubt.  BUT it's Dream Lanes!!!!!

Gotta say though. I just came from there after rolling 7 games practice this afternoon.  Shot 3 games all spares and used 3 different strike balls <Solid Ogre, SS Ogre, Immortal Solid> in 4 games scoring..on that wall it didn't matter what I used 256, 279, 300 and 290.........if it's like that on the high end all year I was on 27.........I could average way to much.....I don't want to bowl on that kind of a condition year around.  What a wall.

Guess it's more to the point that it's not always the latest and greatest equipment that you need to score. Learn how to bowl with what you have, take care of your equipment and it can still work 3 years and 500+ games later.
Not all of us are great bowlers... I know I'm not. I get tired of hearing about wall shot this and wall shot that....I wasn't bragging about the games per se, more the ball.

I hear ya...some of my older Dyno pieces are still going strong as well.  I've got an old Xxtra Swirl in the closest that I would still be throwing if I still threw 16lb'rs.

Speaking of...I've got some NIB stuff at home that I might sell of: 15lb Sniper and two 15lb 44 Magnums.

I still hate myself for selling the one I had. If anyone has a nib 15 or 16 for sale pm me.

Elite my point was that at the walled up Dream Lanes any ball would look good.  But agree that piece is a great ball.  I also think it matches up to your style.  You tend to get the ball out hit up on it and the TR gives you more room than another ball would.

That's what I was saying.  In any case at least you can slide at Dream I sure couldn't at Prairie last week...sheesh inconsistent.

With that kind of scoring, Scott would most certainly go broke buying all of those 298 & 299 rings..lol!

And to think that Dream Lanes was my lowest scoring house at State Tournament a few years back when I finished third in scratch all-events.  Still, to this day, the most fun I ever had on the lanes during a tournament since college.  2164 with 655 @ Dream.

Scott, did bass ever get in touch with you regarding the first few weeks of Cambridge?

btw, it's refreshing to hear the stories about equipment with lotsa games on hem.  The Soaker coverstocks have been renowned for their longevity.

So basically what you're saying is I have absolutely no skill at all?

Yeah, back to the post at hand... this ball has lasted longer than any of my other pieces...bar none...and I take care of all of them the same with consistent cleaning and hot water baths every month-month and half. The soaker coverstock is a marvel indeed. Makes me curious to see what 900 Global is going to come out with....

As far as sliding, Dream Lanes was so slippery 2 weeks ago I thought someone was going to get hurt on 35. But if you have yourself a great pair of Dynothane shoes like I do, it took about 30 seconds to change slide pads and I was good to go......
