new guy--Since, I see you are on-line today....I was hopibng you8 could answer the question I've had for a number of months.
I have noticed my Thing and Thing Returns have a decisive urethane type smell to them. Only use Simple Green to clean and have resurfaced Thing once and have over 400n games on it and TR slightly less.
It's NOT an offensive smell by any means. Can you give an explanation without having to shoot me?
I let a senior player in his 70's smell them both the other night in a senior scratch league and Don Johnson popped in his mind as well as mine.
BTW---best coverstock around the Soaker!

I guess, I am the ONLY one with smelly Soaker cover stock DT balls. If mine are this good yours must stink!

I don't know what to tell you. s1nger1 had a Thing drilled and told me it really smelled awful. I was in the shop when mine was drilled and didn't smell anything unusual.

Strider--It's not really what I was talking about as they were drilled. It's now I have a Thing and TR in one three ball bag and when I open it you can smell the heavy smell of what I think smells more like uretahne when a new ball is drilled. It's NOT at all offensive to me. I have always liked the smell of urethane when a new ball is drilled. These balls between them have over 500-600 games and hit like when they were new with just ordinary upkeep.
