A few weeks back a guy threw a 300 299 227 actually it was last tuesday, i can understand why they might alter the pattern and i threw a 298 aswell. Sooo today monday night league its a bunch of older guys that are not pros buy no means theres people that avg 170-210. Tonight a guy bowled a 123,123, and a 96 he can adjust but this was extream you couldent make the ball hook tonight it was something i never experienced. i threw a few parctice games a 199 258 and a 207, i was suprized really, i dident know that was a pro shot then tho, in league a threw a 147 150 172. i jus couldent get the ball to turn over i hope the same shot isnt out next week...and i hope they use it for leagues all week. not just this league.

Are you sure it was a pro shot, or that they didn't just dump a ton of oil? "Pro" shots aren't hard because you can't hook the ball, they're hard because you are actually penalized for bad shots.

i asked he said we put a pro shot out today. it sucked.

What in hell is a "pro shot"?
Is anything that won't hook 15+ boards a pro shot?

no its when i ask the guy that oils the lane and he told me what they put down.
-
Which "pro-pattern" was it? There are 15 standard ones and 4 major patterns.

i have no clue something that uses alot of units of oil i couldent hook a ball worth crap

Sounds like pattern B-3. 50 microliters of oil for 42'. Anything outside of 15 at the midlane pretty much stays there. You have to play in breakpoint zone 3 and stay fairly deep in the lane. Even us lefties have to play 4th-5th arrow to get to the hole.
I've shot my highest PBA game on pattern B (Shark Pattern) - a 276.

I've seen this pattern play pretty dry... And some of the shorter patterns play pretty wet. a lot depends on the condition of the lane and the machine, plus a lot of league bowlers are used to what I like to call "bounce" where when it gets outside 7 or 8, it bounces back. They can often mistake a light shot for a heavy one.

do u have a link to this site i can look at the lane with the oil on it like the pba does ???|
-
When the PBA put it down in the last 4 tournaments in which I encountered it, I didn't have the good fortune of any "bounce". Wide shots gave one the pleasure of shooting at either a washout or 3-6-10 splits. Every now and again you could add a 9 pin to that split arrangement.
No, the PBA Director didn't give us any "bounce" on Pattern B.

Apologies. I said Pattern B was 42'. It's actually 43'. I must have had my Sport League oil on my mind.

it gotta be something almost like that i dident even have a ball to use on that condition, its being orderd but, any thing out side of 10 dident come back you had to play stright down and in or u were screwed. 600 avg bowlers throwing 300seires lol....

Yeah, there usually isn't much. You usually have to play straight. I did play on older wood lanes that were in dire need of a resurface, and the shot played pretty dry.
In terms of bounce off the dry, I was talking about how league bowlers are used to it on a ths, and when there isn't any, they think its heavy oil with screaming backends, even though it is really more of a medium shot.

If you want to try a fun pattern, you should check out my Sport shot for this month. 45' of flat oil with no buff. Equal volume for 45' from 1 board to 1 board.
If you miss, you pay. I promise.

Dry Lane ball-don't need one. If you can't throw a polished ball straight up second arrow and kick out the 10 pin, you're nothing more than a house bowler. Adjust your shot, don't complain to the owner and buy a $100 spare ball that you use six times in four years.

may not have a ton of hand, but I've got 1500 pounds of fingers. I'd call myself 240-n-up-or-bust if I could simply make a $%@($^@(# ten pin.
... Ummm am i reading that right
