Spare ball
« on: April 04, 2006, 09:58:37 AM »
Dont get me wrong now, I love the great performance of all the balls that have been put out or are being soon.  I got to thinking though, the only spare ball dyno-thane has is the patriotic one.  I mean it's nice and everything, I just dont want one.  Any shot that there will be one put out just for the heck of it.  What a guy made in the brunswick forum got me thinking about a clear ball with a dyno-thane logo in it.  I know I could get what is it...24 people together and make my own ball from clearballs.com but I'd rather have one from Dyno-Thane that I wouldnt get sued over.  Anyone else like this idea?  I know this has been covered before, just wondering where everyone stood on it as of now and to see whether maybe something's in the works.  I doubt it, but worth a shot.

Clear Plastic with Energy or Vendetta core.... YUM!

Yeah. You know, I had a guy in Jackson county. He had a little drum circle in his backyard. It turned into a drum circle four miles in diameter. You get a few hippies playing drums and next thing you know, you got yourself a colony.

2 piece poly balls are a nightmare to make and even worse on the quality. The poly cracks when a thicker shell is used due to the massive heat generated during the cure process. Clear balls tend to have air bubbles and lose clarity over time. So far I've listed more cons than pros. one pro i'd favor is a high price. so a solution is to leave less 10 or 7 pins and move on.

LOL!!!!
Easy to say...sometime it's just plain hard to not leave tens tho.  I personally don't need a spare ball  as I can kill it pretty efficeintly, so I don't really care.  I am a big fan of the Energy core tho so I thought I'd just suggest putting that in another ball.

Clear balls do seem to yellow pretty quickly, and than they just look terrible.  I suppose if you had them donated to you every month or so it wouldn't be too bad, but otherwise they do look pretty crappy once they get used a bit.

Heck if it would be crappy quality I don't want DT making it...just keep concentrating on the good stuff.

I would like to see a new plastic ball added as well. I don't really care for the looks of the eagle ball.

Well in that case....how about a ball guarenteed to carry the 7 and the 10?  Then I wont even have to think about needing a plastic ball.  Well that just sucks then.  I was wanting something to complete my arsenal too.  Oh well.  Anyone else with ideas here?

Why not just bring back the old green Spare Shot?

Now if lessons were the case wouldnt the pros always carry.  I've become good at making them with my POS white dot.

This is soley my own opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. Not being a maunfacturer (D/T), but a designer it cost Phil more to produce a ball, as a pro shop operator I see the raw cost of the plastic and the retail price being so close to be competitive with other shops there is very little profit in a plastic ball. I would suspect it is the same on Phil's end as well.

I do agree. DT needs a plastic ball back in the line. I use the Barrage right now for corner pins and such, but every now and again it will bite a little no matter how straight I throw it.

Try throwing it on sythetics with CLEAN backends...  That thing snapped at least 10 boards on the back when it usually just skids the whole way.

I think the visa balls or some are pretty ko-ul looking but once they get beat up there is little that can be done with them, even light sanding removes the graphics. I would like to see something like a solid bright color poly ball called the Straight Shot, Spare Machine, or the Pick-up Artist, or the Unhooker, maybe even cg no madda.

So.....Anyone got a spare shot I can buy from them?  Didnt know there even was one.  Guess with it being from 97 that's a little hard to come by.  I know the cost vs. the sale price is not going to leave much room for profit as I'm sure the eagle ball does as well.  I'd just like a replacement for the eagle.  When I had my barrage that sucker would hook off the dry insanely.  If there was remotely fresh backend it would hook as much as anything else I had.
