Soaker with Elixir..... would ya?
« on: November 09, 2003, 05:14:27 AM »
It sounds like this cover is trying to do what Doc's Elixir does, eliminate the oil retention in the cover. Am I missing the point? I've heard these balls bleed continuously, is this true?

Thanks for the replies. Going by the Dyno-thane description, I understood that the cover did in fact draw oil in, but also dispelled that same oil. So the net effect was that the cover would not ultimately hold the oil in. I understand that this is a totally different method of addressing the same problem. I don't own one, but I thought it might be interesting to investigate. I may have to try one out. Thanks

I like the Elixir for any non shiny ball.  I haven't used any on my Thing.  I was curious as to whether the Elixir would be worthwhile on a soaker coverstock.  The more I throw it, the more I like it.  It easily break 5-8 boards than when it was new.  Hits better too.  Probably 40-50 games on it now.  Liked it so much I bought an Element.  I'm hoping to see a similar "improvement" from it also.

It does keep it on the surface. that's why I use a  microfiber to wipe it right off. the difference is my cover never becomes saturated because of the barrier.

I would not put the Elixir on THIS coverstock.  Period.  For a WHOLE variety of reasons, including longevity and changing the performance of the coverstock -- in my opinion the best one on the market right now.
