Should the ENERGY be drilled a SPECIFIC way?
« on: February 15, 2005, 07:13:05 PM »
The following was taken from some posts:

quote:
When the Energy is released off the hand, the core is standing up giving length and free-revving. When it flips in the backends the core lays down and drives hard through the pindeck. It will maintain its initial/original axis rotation much longer before it starts to flare which will make it very clean through the front and save the flare potential for the backend.

So... should this ball be drilled in a particular way (like where the PIN, CG, and MASS BIAS are put) to enable the core to be in this specific position during the first part of the lane and the last part of the lane like the ball was designed to do? Make sense???

Or can it be drilled in your favorite drill pattern, i.e. 5x4 or 4x5, and the ball still work like it was created to do???

The farther the pin is from your PAP (up to 6 3/4), the more "upright" any core will be when you throw it.  The core staying upright longer will move the flare towards the big end of the lane.  As with any other ball, the core falls over during the hook phase of ball motion.
